Job Overview:
We are seeking a high-quality candidate to join our client's existing legal team of 4 to provide comprehensive legal support on a wide range of commercial and regulatory issues. The Commercial Lawyer will collaborate closely with the Head of Legal and other team members to deliver timely and high-quality legal advice to support their fast-paced business. The successful candidate will manage a diverse portfolio of responsibilities, including drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, advising on regulatory matters, and supporting special projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Head of Legal to provide a broad range of legal advice to the business.
Independently manage the provision of timely and high-quality legal advice to internal stakeholders.
Collaborate with other members of the legal team, business divisions, and senior management to address legal and regulatory issues.
Provide general advice on commercial contracts and draft, review, and negotiate various agreements.
Liaise with internal and external specialist lawyers on areas such as Intellectual Property, Energy/utilities, and regulatory matters.
Assist the Corporate Governance and Compliance functions with ad hoc queries.
Supervise junior team members and cooperate with the wider legal team on regional/global projects.
Develop new templates and procedures and provide legal training to the organization.
Manage external legal advisors and control external spend.
Assist with the management of the legal budget.
Provide legal support for ad hoc matters, including third-party claims and litigation.
Support the achievement of team objectives.
Ability to travel for business as required.
Qualifications Required:
Formal/Professional Education: Qualified solicitor/barrister/Legal Executive in the UK with 1-4 years’ post-qualification experience.
Experience and Qualities:
Experience in regional, national, or international commercial law firm and/or in-house legal team (some in-house experience preferred).
Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Ability to balance customer expectations and commercial demands against legal and regulatory risks.
Enthusiastic and willing to continuously learn and improve.
Comfortable working in an international environment with exposure to diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Capacity to manage a high workload and prioritize tasks effectively.
Leadership and management skills.
Resilience and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.
Good project management and conflict management skills.
Proficiency in standard Microsoft Office packages.
Language skills welcome, fluency in English (written and spoken) essential.
