Job Description

The purpose of the Commercial and Procurement Manager role is to lead and manage all commercial and procurement aspects of Sondrel's business relationships with clients and suppliers globally. The Commercial and Procurement Manager will be responsible for negotiating and managing contracts, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and identifying and mitigating commercial and procurement risks.


The role will also involve developing and implementing commercial and procurement strategies to optimize revenue, margin, profitability, and supply chain efficiency, while fostering long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with clients and suppliers. The Commercial and Procurement Manager will work closely with internal teams to align commercial and procurement objectives with company capabilities and resources and provide strategic insights to senior management to inform decision-making.

What you will be doing

1. Contract Management:

  • Lead the negotiation and drafting of client and supplier contracts, ensuring terms and conditions are favourable for Sondrel and align with company policies and objectives.
  • Review and analyse client and supplier contracts to identify potential risks, liabilities, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain contract templates and standard terms and conditions in collaboration with legal and finance teams.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and manage any disputes or issues that arise.
  • Work collaboratively with Project Managers to monitor and report on contract and supplier performance, including identifying and negotiating contract amendments.
  • Develop and implement commercial strategies to optimize revenue, margin, and profitability across client accounts.
  • Collaborate with senior management to define and align commercial objectives with overall company strategy.
  • Develop and maintain pricing strategies and models that are competitive and profitable.
  • Develop and implement supply chain strategies to optimize revenue, margin, and profitability.
  • Develop and maintain supplier performance metrics and scorecard to track and improve supplier performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline procurement operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to forecast and plan procurement needs and ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Identify and assess commercial and procurement risks associated with client and supplier contracts and projects.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to minimize exposure and protect company interests.
  • Monitor and report on risk management activities and outcomes to senior management.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Legal, Finance, and Operations, to manage and mitigate risks effectively.
5. Relationship Management:
  • Foster long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with clients and suppliers through effective communication, collaboration, and problem-solving.
  • Serve as a key point of contact for clients and suppliers on commercial and procurement matters, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with account management, project management, and operations teams to ensure client satisfaction and successful project delivery.
6. Reporting and Analytics:
  • Develop and maintain key commercial and procurement metrics and performance indicators to track contract performance, revenue, margin, profitability, and supplier performance.
  • Provide regular reports and analysis to senior management on commercial and procurement performance, market trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with finance and other departments to ensure accurate and timely reporting and forecasting.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes related to commercial management, procurement, and contracting.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to streamline commercial and procurement operations and enhance efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development within the commercial and procurement teams.
  • Provide training and guidance to other departments on commercial and procurement matters and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Professional certification in contract management, such as IACCM, or procurement, such as CIPS.
  • Master's degree in business, Law, Finance, Supply Chain Management, or a related field

  • Strong analytical skills and data-driven approach to decision-making

  • In-depth knowledge of commercial and procurement best practices, industry standards, and relevant regulations

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think strategically to address commercial and procurement challenges
  • Proven ability to manage and resolve contract disputes and issues
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to manage complex commercial and procurement discussions
  • Ability to develop and maintain contract templates and standard terms and conditions
  • Passion for delivering exceptional client service and building long-term, mutually beneficial relationships
  • Experience in semiconductors, electronics, or a related industry.
  • Experience with value-based pricing and developing creative commercial model
  • Proven ability to mentor and guide junior team members
  • Experience with project management methodologies, such as Agile or Waterfall
  • Proficiency in a second language, particularly those spoken in key markets across EMEA
  • Experience with merger and acquisition (M&A) activities and due diligence processes
  • Knowledge of intellectual property (IP) rights and licensing
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large, complex, and high-value contracts and procurement projects
  • Experience with international commercial transactions, cross-border contracts, and global sourcing
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, procurement platforms, and financial reporting tools
  • Ability to develop and deliver training on commercial and procurement best practices and processes
  • Experience with risk management frameworks and tools
  • Willingness to travel as required to meet with clients, suppliers, and attend industry events.

Our Headquarters is based in Theale where you will be located around plenty of country pubs in the area, golf courses, fishing lakes, good cycle and walking routes. Our Bristol office is modern, open plan complex located by the intersection of the M4 and M5.
