As a Communications and Community Liaison Officer for Grain LNG, you'll promote the company brand through effective internal and external communications. Grain LNG is committed to protecting the environment for future generations and supporting their energy needs, through being an innovative, socially responsible business. We're also working with local schools and charitable organisations to enhance lives and promote the skills of our future generation of engineers, through a number of volunteering and fundraising events.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an expanding terminal, which is of strategic national importance to UK energy infrastructure and security of supply. We're the largest Liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Europe and eighth largest in the world by tank capacity with a site that spans over 600 acres in total.

This role is based from the Isle of Grain in Kent, and you can enjoy our hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key accountabilities

  • Work with the Grain Leadership Team and our social media agent to develop and implement communication strategies to align with the organisation’s objectives, values and corporate responsibilities.
  • Work closely with our external social media agent to create an ongoing monthly schedule of content for publishing and provide contact as necessary for technical input. Ensure appropriate approval obtained prior to external release.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between the organisation and the community, fostering positive relations and promoting understanding and collaboration. Actively engage with community members to understand their needs, concerns and aspirations.
  • Maintain regular dialogue with Corporate Affairs and National Grid Ventures Communication teams, sharing information and content which may be suitable for wider distribution beyond the Grain LNG channels.
  • Work closely with the Grain Community Action Steering Team (CAST) to support their deliverables and their community needs and contacts.

About you

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media management tools.
  • Experience in social media management and content creation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organise, plan and prioritise work effectively.
  • Cultural sensitivity and awareness when engaging with diverse communities.
  • A qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or related field would be beneficial.

What you'll get

  • A competitive salary between £37,000 – £41,000 – dependent on capability.
  • An annual performance bonus.
  • 26 days annual leave (plus bank holidays).
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
  • A comprehensive internal training programme along with support for relevant external courses.
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave - so long as it's relevant to your role.
  • Access to flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
  • Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
  • Access to apps that support health, fitness and wellbeing.
