Feeding Families is an award winning food poverty charity which operates across North East England. We are seeking a Fundraising & Communications Assistant to join our small but enthusiastic team in delivering an ambitious plan to increase donations and promote the charity. Occasional out-of-hours working may be required. As well as working from home, the role will require attendance in our centres in Blaydon and Sedgefield and other locations from time to time so access to a car is essential (excess mileage will be paid). Objectives · To effectively support the Engagement team in delivering the charity’s communications strategy, to drive greater engagement by stakeholders. · To effectively support the Engagement team in delivering the fundraising strategy to increase revenue. · To support the Engagement team with the administration of projects. Main Responsibilities Communications: To support the implementation of a social media plan. · Design and schedule regular on-brand social media content which reflects the aims of the charity, its achievements and key messages to reach our diverse audiences on Facebook, X, Linkedin, Instagram & YouTube. · Encouraging others to comment on our posts and share them with others. Seeking opportunities to further develop the website and social media channels to grow the charity’s audience and optimise its impact. · Track the effectiveness of our social media work and recommend ways forward. · Test content and review its impact. · Contribute to the development and design of key communications such as flyers & posters. Fundraising: Work with the Engagement Manager to execute the Fundraising Strategy, taking responsibility for delivering on key elements of the strategy. Deliver specific individual giving fundraising appeals. Support the development, communication and administration of any fundraising events. Creatively support the development of new and inspiring supporter fundraising campaigns/content and deliver them in an impactful way, Approach potential local suppliers and businesses for support, including fundraising items such as raffle/auction prizes or event space. Develop new relationships within the local community and with local businesses. Manage information and record all activity on our CRM. Support the recruitment of fundraising volunteers. Develop, plan and deliver specific individual giving fundraising appeals. Assist with the delivery of small-scale projects as required. Ensure our brand is maintained in all fundraising communications Relevant skills and experience Essential Highly organised with attention to detail Experience of managing multiple tasks to deadlines, prioritising own workload with good time management skills. Experience of using Microsoft Office. To be able to communicate effectively, be articulate, with strong writing skills and the ability to feedback accurately. Ability to transform small snippets of information into interesting and engaging stories suitable for X, Facebook etc. Strong administration skills to lead and implement fundraising initiatives, building relationships with volunteers and businesses. The ability to work equally well in a team and unsupervised. Good understanding of confidentiality. An interest in, knowledge of or willingness to learn about food poverty. Educated to A level standard (or equivalent job based standard) with GCSEs in English and Maths. Full driver’s licence and access to a car. Desirable Knowledge and experience of marketing communications with an understanding of e-marketing and social media. Background in working within the charities sector. Experience of creating marketing materials using graphic design tools such as Canva Understanding of social media and how to drive engagement.
