Communications & Content Creation Officer – Welsh Boxing

Welsh Boxing is seeking to employ a creative and energetic Communications and Content Officer to join its operational team and be responsible for co-ordinating all centralised communications to its membership and its partners, as well as create content which captures the core values of our sport and the impact it has on individuals, clubs and communities across Wales.

Welsh Boxing is recognised for its success within the ring in recent years, and as a result, the wider interest in boxing has risen. Welsh Boxing is determined to take full advantage of this momentum; enhance its relationship with current members and clubs by showcasing their work and amplify this message to audiences new. It is truly a unique sport, and this role will be a primary avenue in sharing this message.

This role will be responsible for raising the profile and enhancing the reputation of Welsh Boxing, amplifying and showcasing the operational elements of Welsh Boxing delivery, as outlined in the new communication strategy. The strategy aims to inform, educate and entertain the public with regards to the impact that boxing makes, showcasing its benefits across health and wellbeing, social inclusion and community engagement.

An integral part of the role will be to effectively promote Welsh Boxing’s centralised events calendar, the club show calendars from each of the four divisions, Welsh Boxing’s coach education offer as it aims to enhance coach development, recognising and capturing stories from across the club network and membership, as well as showcasing the development and exploits of boxers from within Welsh Boxing’s Performance Programme. To this extent, the successful applicant will work with both the community and performance teams within Welsh Boxing.

The successful candidate will co-ordinate Welsh Boxing’s social platforms, identifying opportunities to enhance its presence, and work with the senior leadership team to create corporate campaigns which enhances the image of boxing within the corporate landscape.

The position is a new role, giving the successful candidate creative freedom to put their stamp on the role. It is a full-time role and will be based within the Welsh Boxing office in Sport Wales, Cardiff. The standard workweek comprises of 37.5 hours Monday to Friday, although there is an expectation to work evenings and weekends when required to fulfil the needs of the role. You will be given leave in lieu of any additional days. The successful candidate will receive access to Sport Wales gym facilities as part of their employment, and 25 days annual leave per year.
