Location: Marischal College, Broad Street, Aberdeen
Duration: Permanent, Full Time
Roles that require PVG Membership
Please note that with effect from 1 April 2023, where a role requires PVG membership, candidates will be required to meet the cost of the PVG membership. This applies only to roles with a full time equivalent salary of £30,000 and above. (Teaching roles and jobs at Grade 12 and above (currently £32,555 per annum / £16.92 per hour)
The Council will pay for the PVG membership cost initially, either £18 for existing PVG scheme members, or £59 for non-members, and this cost will be deducted from an employee's first FULL month's salary payment.
job purpose/about the role
This is an exciting opportunity within our older adult service based within the community teams and ARI. You will work alongside our care managers and other care Co-ordinators to enable service users and their families to live independently.
You will work with all stakeholders including care providers to ensure that service users are assessed and where required receive the agreed support to meet individual service user outcomes.
The ideal candidate needs to demonstrate a can-do attitude, be able to communicate effectively and be able to prioritise varying demands depending on the situation faced.
The post holder needs to hold as a minimum:
HNC / SVQ level 3 in Social Care
PVG
Full UK Driving License
The postholder is able to demonstrate:
Current legislation related to Social Care and Wellbeing
Practice, policy, procedures and legislation relevant to the post
Community Care Policy and developments
The needs of Community Care client groups, including older people, dementia sufferers, people with learning or physical disabilities, addiction problems and carers
The range of services and resources (including medical) available and apply these in order to improve outcomes for service users whilst recognising the need for dignity, respect and promotion of independent living
Local services to enable signposting to available resources
Direct support and experience of supporting people within the Community Care Client group
Anti discriminatory practice
Risk assessment and risk management
Being an autonomous worker who is accountable and recognises when there is a need to take issues to as higher body
Working directly with vulnerable, challenging and hard to reach service users
Person Centred Planning and outcome focused planning; assessing and reviewing
Supporting service users during transitions
Adult Protection and Child Protection
Office procedures including administration and using computer packages including Microsoft office
