We have opportunities to be part of the Composite Manufacturing team in the role of Composite Production Engineer.


The role would suit an experienced candidate with a comprehensive background in composite manufacturing within a top-level motorsport environment. The purpose of the role is to work alongside both Composite Design and Composite Manufacturing departments to aid continuous improvement of processes, contributing to improving quality and reducing lead time within Composite Laminating, Trim Shop and Pattern Shop.


The Successful candidate must have the following attributes:

  • Extensive composite manufacturing experience, within laminating, trimming/assembly.
  • A solid understanding of composite materials and their properties.
  • CNC Composite Machining knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Be able to interpret engineering drawings, layup and build manuals.
  • CAD experience, ideally Catia to a level that will support model interrogation and a small amount of physical modelling.
  • A methodical approach with an appetite for problem solving.
  • Excellent organisation skills, capable of multi tasking and prioritising workload to achieve demanding targets.
  • Technical communication skills in order to produce presentations, procedure, reports and work instructions.
  • Experience of Virtek laser ply projection methodology and kit cutting template preparation.


The key responsibilities of this role are:

  • To work alongside Composite Manufacturing departments to ensure process is efficient and achievable, whilst pushing the boundaries of material and technologies.
  • Develop the capabilities of the Composite Manufacturing department, putting the team at the cutting edge of manufacture whilst minimizing scrap, wastage and quality defects.
  • Produce standard operating procedures and manufacturing documentation in order to control manufacture and traceability of parts.
  • Provide the kit cutting department with data required in order to nest and cut kits for composite components, developing utilisation of this technology and driving improvement.
  • Provide laminating department with data required in order to make use of laser projection hardware during laminating process, developing utilisation of this technology and driving improvement.
  • Be the main source of communication between shopfloor and design in both directions in order to ensure manufacture of parts is achievable and carried out as per design intent. Collaborate with design in order to develop design for manufacture.
  • Feed back manufacturing issues and improvements to design, ensuring changes to drawings and laminate manuals are recorded to reflect manufacturing process.
  • Minimise composite resource wastage – including time and materials.
  • To supply training to colleagues as and when required.
  • To monitor and prioritise own workload to scheduled dates and to feedback any issues that may affect delivery as soon as possible.


The role will be based at the Silverstone Factory however there may be a requirement to travel as and when requested to meet the requirements of the Company.
