Job Description

Job Title: Construction Director Location: Chelmsford, Essex Salary: Up to £130k Package Exciting opportunity for an experienced Construction Director to take a leading role with a rapidly growing main contractor. With a current turnover of £35 million and ambitious plans to exceed £75 million, this is your chance to oversee a diverse portfolio of New Build, Refurbishment, and Fit Out projects across sectors like Retail, Education, Commercial, and Hotels. Project values range from £1m - £15m, and the company is looking for a talented leader to guide their growth while maintaining their high standards of delivery. Role Overview: Our client is seeking a highly experienced Construction Director to lead construction operations, ensuring the successful delivery of multiple projects while driving growth and maintaining a commitment to quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in main contracting, with experience in both New Build and Fit Out projects. You will be based in the head office, with an expectation to visit sites at least once or twice a week. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy: Lead construction operations, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards. Contribute to strategic decisions to drive company growth and achieve turnover targets. Site Oversight: Maintain a deep understanding of all active construction sites, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards. Regularly visit sites to monitor progress, provide guidance, and resolve issues. Project Management: Oversee and manage a diverse portfolio of projects. Ensure the seamless execution of projects from inception to completion. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop site teams, ensuring they are aligned with company objectives and equipped to deliver high-quality work. Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors. Act as the key point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and addressing any concerns. Qualifications & Experience: Background: Extensive experience in a main contracting environment, ideally within a medium-sized company. Tier one experience will also be considered. Leadership Experience: Ideally already in a Director role, but we will consider candidates in senior management roles who are ready to step up.
