The successful candidates should be trained and proficient in all areas of heart failure and additional subspecialty interests that would complement the current departmental requirements and skill sets will be actively encouraged and supported.
This is a new post for a consultant cardiologist with specific interest in heart failure. The successful applicants will join 10 other consultant cardiologists in this significant service expansion and will be expected to further develop cardiology services and specifically Heart Failure services in Northampton General Hospital, collaborate in delivering a county cardiology service with Kettering General Hospital and with Primary care.
The successful applicants should have extensive general cardiology skills in order to participate in the general cardiology on call rota, which is a specialty cardiac take as cardiology is no longer part of the general medical take. This runs alongside the urgent care pathway which includes a new build of an Acute Medical Assessment unit in 2017. The on-call rota is currently 1:7 at the NGH site, on site from 0830-1800hrs daily, reviewing patients throughout the day as referred to expediate treatment and on-call for emergencies overnight from home (within 30 minutes). There is also a cardiology ward rota for Monday to Friday daytime cover, separate from the take.
