Reports to: Senior Manager, Grants
Working hours: 9am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday standard working hours, dependent on client demands.
Main purpose of the job:
Ayming’s grants team write engaging and rigorous applications that enable their clients to innovate for the future.
The Consultant will play a leading role in writing innovation grant applications. This will involve co-ordinating client meetings to gather necessary information and converting that information into a project proposal customised to suit specific funder criteria.
Additionally, Consultants will be expected to maintain excellent client relationships across a portfolio of cases. They will lead client workshops to define a list of key innovation priorities and then scout the market for grant opportunities that relate to these.
This is a unique opportunity to join a rapidly-growing grants team within a leading innovation consultancy.
The Innovation Grant Consultant will have the following responsibilities:
- Meeting with clients/targets at all stages of the sales and grant application process
- Scouting new Grants opportunities and interpreting their fit in relation to defined client priorities.
- Writing high-quality grant applications:
o Using clear, compelling language to convince a reader about the quality of an innovation
o Explaining the technical aspects of the innovation and its difference from existing approaches
o Presenting project plans and risk registers with rigour and detail
o Grasping the client’s business model, including the innovation’s market opportunity and revenue projections
Skills and personal qualities:
Excellent verbal communication skills, clarity in writing on complex topics, manages time effectively within limited constraints, works well with others in a team.
We are looking for candidates that combine a flair for science with a love of writing.
Prior experience of research would also be preferable, either in a business (R&D) or academic (MSc/PhD) environment.
Experience requirements:
- Individuals with at least 2 years relevant professional experience, either in grant writing/consulting or in industry
- Demonstrable experience of bringing innovative thinking and fresh ideas
- Strong communication and writing skills in English required
