We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated and experienced Clinical or Forensic Psychologist to join our team of psychologists, trainees and assistant psychologists offering psychological services to forensic service users across NCL. The right candidate will have significant experience of working in secure services and a record of inspirational leadership. They will be involved in shaping and developing the service as well as ensuring the systematic provision and governance of high-quality psychological assessment and therapies. They will hold an overview of the service and act as a specialist resource and source of advice.
The post holder will work closely with the head of therapies, consultant lead for psychology in the community, senior service managers and the psychology pathway leads to develop and ensure provision.
The North London Forensic Service places a high value on the provision of trauma informed care across the service and conducts a range of QI and research projects to help our learning and processes. We are looking for someone who will have a strong track record of delivering services within forensic mental health and of supporting staff to deliver excellent care. The post holder will work with the head of therapies, consultant lead for community services and psychology pathway leads to provide strategic oversight and professional leadership and management of the inpatient and community psychology provision at NLFS.
The postholder will support the pathway leads to ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality psychological therapies service. The post holder will be involved in recruitment, retention, management, supervision and training of staff and ensuring that quality and performance outcomes are met.
This post requires a high level of written and verbal communication skills as well as an ability to engage well with stakeholders including commissioners, staff, patients, and their families, often conveying complex or sensitive information.

1. To support the Head of Therapies to offer clinical and professional leadership for psychology services within NLFS.
2. To provide clinical supervision to the psychology pathway leads.
3. To be responsible for high level psychological thinking and understanding and to share this knowledge in development of the teams
4. To carry a clinical case load within the inpatient service
5. To provide supervision, advice, consultation and training to qualified and unqualified psychological therapies staff, students and trainees working within the division across a range of agencies and settings, where appropriate.
6. To be responsible for the line management of agreed qualified psychologists, trainee and student psychologists when on placement, and assistant psychologists, as required. To include conducting appraisals, the provision of appropriate opportunities for the continuing professional development, management of sickness and absence and other related HR requirements.
