Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a new service model, working in partnership with local services to meet the needs of those presenting with complex mental health needs together?

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Telford and Wrekin Adult Crisis Assessment Home Treatment Team in Shropshire.

The Team deliver care over a 24 hour period to people over the age of 18 years in crisis, focusing on ensuring that the service users are supported to remain in their own home wherever hospitalisation can be safely and appropriately avoided. Working as part of a multi -disciplinary team you will provide active involvement in the assessment, development, implementation & evaluation of service user care responding quickly to those referred with urgent & high risk mental health needs & provide collaborative, effective, evidence based interventions at the right time with the right person

This is a permanent full-time (10PAs) post in Crisis and Home Treatment team. The emphasis is to provide timely & comprehensive assessment, interventions & treatment to service users & their families/carers, whilst working within a MDT format.

We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with the interest in providing strong medical leadership as the post involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, which shares responsibility for ensuring that the care delivered by the service is safe and of a high quality standard

This post enables dedicated Consultant input our Crisis and Home Treatment Team. You will be expected to provide community care and treatment, with the facility for assessment of referred service users, flexible review of complex service users and timely discharge in liaison with General Practitioners. Service Users will present with a range of mental health difficulties and need.

The role involves providing clinical leadership to the team as part of a collective leadership structure, and providing support and supervision as required to Advanced Nurse Practitioner and Non-Medical Prescribers. The post holder will have responsibility to supervise a trainee attached to the team, although as with any training post this is subject to trainee availability. Opportunities are also available in the Trust to participate in postgraduate and undergraduate education for Junior Doctors and medical students from Keele Medical School.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • MRCPsych or equivalent
  • Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment.
  • oEligible for inclusion on the specialist register (senior trainees must be within six months of CCT at the point of interview


Clinical Skills, Knowledge, and experience

Essential

  • Experience in General Adult Psychiatry at ST 4 -6 level or equivalent senior level in a variety of settings including in-patient and community.
  • Approved Clinician status and knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Approval under Section 12(2) of Mental Health Act 1983,
