About BBC Maestro 

BBC Maestro is a service provided by Maestro Media in partnership with BBC Studios. 

We are an educational service crafted to give our learners the techniques, tools, confidence, and inspiration to ignite their passion and develop skills in different aspirational subjects.  

Some of the most experienced creators and experts in the world teach our courses in simple steps, such as Mark Ronson, Paula Scher, Brian Cox, Professor Tim Spector, Alan Moore and Julia Donaldson. 

Since our launch in late 2020, we have introduced new course categories across health, wellbeing, business and design, improved multi-platform product experiences that help strengthen learning outcomes.   

Looking forward into 2024, we are evolving our market strategies to grow new revenue streams and diversify our audience base. 

About the role 

We are looking for a talented mid-weight designer to work across the breadth of our creative; including campaign-based content (paid media and emails), social media content, website assets, and business development assets for our B2B sales team. 

New content, static and motion, is continually required as we run marketing activations, which will keep the content and design requirements fresh and interesting, covering an endless range of inspiring topics. 

You are a conceptual thinker who is able to work well in cross functional teams to develop creative ideas for ongoing marketing promotions and course launches. You are able to take a brief from start to finish, creating assets that represent a high standard of design; both creatively strong and commercially successfully.

You will report directly into our Head of Creative Studio and be expected to own design output of social and digital marketing, as well as contribute to wider brand design projects as needed.  

We’re looking for exceptional creative talent, who can confidently deliver highly effective and engaging advertising work in an entertainment environment and someone who wants to be a part of tight-knit and ambitious team.

Salary range: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum

Design experience and knowledge: 

  • 2:1 or higher degree in design
  • Around 4 years of experience in delivering similar high-end media/marketing content, across paid media, organic social and email channels
  • Strong understanding of best practice design principles for content marketing, including animations and gifs
  • Exemplary layout and typography skills 
  • Strong expertise of CS: photoshop, illustrator, and InDesign
  • Good working experience of Motion design / After Effects
  • Experience with a leading brand or at a relevant creative or digital marketing agency  
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross functionally
  • Strong conceptual creative, who thrives on making visually compelling, best in class content   
  • Combine excellent attention to design detail with a drive to make engaging and entertaining work across multiple channels
  • Creatively forward, staying up to date with trends and culture
  • Illustration skills great but not essential
  • Working knowledge of sketch &/or figma would be helpful but not essential

  • You can adapt to different types of design briefs set, and you request help where the adaption required is uncertain 
  • You are keen to collaborate, understanding the best marketing often comes from a group effort working with other designers, writers and creatives
  • You care about company culture and see your own responsibility in creating a positive work environment 
  • You can validate your design decision and adjust according to feedback 
  • You are up to date with latest industry trends. You enjoy pushing the traditional boundaries of commercial and creative excellence to challenge the status quo 
  • Enjoy working in a start-up environment setup. You can handle the pace and ambiguity and are able to manage your workload independently while knowing when to ask for help
  • Experimental and enjoy testing new sales tools and techniques. 
  • You enjoy learning and sharing knowledge with others

We also have 25 days holiday, plus public holidays and private medical cover.

We have a lovely dog friendly London office 7 mins walk from Kings Cross station, which we ask people to work from 3 days per week. However, as we formed in the midst of the pandemic many of our team are spread across the country and so we rely on hybrid working practices.
