Zinc Network is dedicated to meaningful, measurable change and conceptualises and creates programs, interventions, and strategic communications campaigns around some of the world’s most complex problems – from disinformation to extremism, media capture to authoritarianism. We are headquartered in London with offices in Washington, Tbilisi, and Warsaw with 80+ team members from diverse professional and cultural backgrounds. Zinc works with a broad range of governmental, NGO, and private sector clients, including the UK Home Office (HO); the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO); the United States Agency for International Development (USAID); the Department of State (DOS); UN agencies and missions; and foundations.

The Contracts Manager will be based in London and be expected to be in our London office at least 2 days per week.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Contract Management:
    • Oversee the full lifecycle of contracts, from drafting and negotiation to execution and closeout, ensuring adherence to contractual terms and conditions.
    • Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of contract requirements, milestones, and deliverables.
    • Monitor contract performance, identify potential risks or issues, and implement strategies to mitigate them effectively.
    • Collaborate closely with internal teams, including project managers, finance, and legal, to ensure alignment with contract requirements and objectives.
    • Conduct regular reviews and audits to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and relevant regulations.
    • Review grant agreements for compliance issues and offer support to our Grants Managers where required.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Serve as the point of contact for communication with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders involved in contract execution.
    • Foster positive relationships with key stakeholders, proactively addressing concerns and resolving conflicts as they arise.
    • Communicate contract-related updates, progress reports, and milestones to stakeholders clearly and promptly.
  3. Risk Management:
    • Identify, assess, and manage risks associated with contract performance, including financial, legal, and operational risks.
    • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential issues and ensure the successful delivery of contracted services.
    • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements or government policies that may impact contract compliance or risk exposure.
  4. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing government contracts, including those related to procurement, data protection, and ethical standards.
    • Prepare and submit required reports, documentation, and certifications in accordance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
    • Support internal and external audits of contract performance, providing accurate and timely information as needed.
    • Represent Zinc at high-level meetings with clients and project partners.

Requirements

What we need from you…
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, law, finance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Proven experience in contract management, particularly with UK government contracts and procurement processes.
- Strong understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and policies governing government contracts, including public procurement regulations
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing issues.
- Familiarity with risk management principles and practices, including assessing and mitigating contractual, financial, and operational risks.
