Control Software Engineer Silverstone, Northants

£35,000 - £45,000 + bonus + share scheme + benefits

Due to continued success a new position has been created for a control software engineer to join a successful and expanding electric vehicle technology company at Silverstone. The company is involved with the design and development of electric motors and electric drive systems for the automotive and marine electric vehicle market.

NOTE: The role requires proven Simulink or Embedded C software development experience.

The role is most suited to graduates with 2-3 years of relevant experience as well as those holding relevant commercially focused PhDs.

The role requires:
Good commercial experience of developing control software for complex electromechanical systems within automotive, aerospace, or marine vehicle systems.
Good software programming ability (e.g., embedded C, Matlab / Simulink, or Embedded Coder)
Experience of electric vehicle drive units / electric vehicle architecture would be ideal.

Control software engineer:

The role will involve working collaboratively with R&D, engineering, and vehicle build / test teams. You will be involved with full lifecycle control software development (embedded C / Simulink) for electromechanical systems (electric motors but also the wider EV systems, inverter, etc).

It will require good realtime control engineering knowledge, ideally applied to automotive electric motors, powertrain systems OR similar, coupled with competent software programming experience (embedded C / Simulink / embedded coder, etc).

Skills / knowledge required: Control Software Engineer
A degree or PhD in a relevant engineering subject (e.g., mechatronics engineering, control engineering, computer science, electronic engineering, mechanical engineering, etc)
Good commercial experience of developing control software for complex electromechanical systems within automotive, aerospace, or marine vehicle systems (ideally electric motors (e.g., PMSMs), powertrain, brakes, for electric vehicles or similar etc)
Good software programming ability (e.g., embedded C, Matlab / Simulink, or Embedded Coder)
Good communication skills (written and verbal)
Practical lab-based experience (competent with a range of diagnostic tools, meters, etc)

Others (beneficial skills): Control Software Engineer
Able to assist with setup of test beds (lab, vehicle), also systems integration activities (e.g., integration of EDU to vehicle platform)
Understanding of vehicle network protocols (e.g., CAN, J1939) and electrical harnesses
Understanding of power electronics / inverters (control) would be useful
Experience of model-based software design using Simulink
Experience of automotive or marine electric vehicle systems
