About the Role

As a Corporate Lawyer in our UK Legal team you'll play a key role in providing high quality, commercially relevant, legal advice and support to ANZ business units in the UK and Europe (and, when resources are available, to the rest of the ANZ Group).

What will your day look like?

As a Corporate Lawyer, you will: Support Corporate Finance and Transaction Banking businesses in UK and Europe by providing transactional, advisory and regulatory support required to meet day-to-day business objectives and launch new business initiatives Undertake legal analysis and provision of detailed legal and/or structuring advice on transactions for Corporate Finance and Transaction Banking, including in respect of bilateral lending, corporate guarantees, trade finance (bank guarantees, documentary and standby letters of credit, trade finance loans, supply chain financing under payables or receivables finance programs). Draft, negotiate, and conclude transaction documentation for the London, Paris and Frankfurt branches of the Bank (with the assistance of the Documentation & Agency Team) both standard and bespoke. Minimise legal costs by reducing reliance on external legal support, ensuring competitive pricing on external legal spending, managing the use of external legal services to ensure legal requirements are met within budget and agreed timelines in a cost effective and efficient manner, developing internal expertise through training, knowhow sharing and expanding exposure, and improving internal efficiencies Adjust and adapt to changes in UK & Europe business and regulations with a willingness to learn and work across a range of different products and disciplines Together with Compliance and Business Governance, assist UK & Europe business to implement changes to ensure compliance with changes in regulations What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring the following: Must be an English-qualified mid-level solicitor or barrister with experience of dealing with a wide range of matters concerning banking law and practice in the UK as it affects a major international banks, such experience having been obtained with a major City of London law firm and/or financial institution Be able to manage complex contract negotiations to reach acceptable agreement between multiple parties when there are differing needs and agendas, and where leverage is limited Have a detailed knowledge and understanding of all provisions in typical facility documentation Have detailed knowledge of all relevant UK legislative, regulatory and industry requirements which may impact across ANZ You're not expected to have 100% of these skills.
