VTTI’s Project Services department is responsible for providing project controls, estimating & contracting services to its project organization. The department operates geographically out of the VTTI Headquarter Rotterdam, with functional team members located at several VTTI terminals and new project locations.


Our new division in biogas production projects leverages our expertise in energy storage and renewable energy to offer innovative solutions to produce biogas, a renewable energy source that is produced through the anaerobic digestion of organic waste. Our biogas production projects enable our customers to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions and generate clean energy from waste, while also creating valuable biproducts such as fertilizers and soil amendments.

Position

VTTI Headquarters, London


We are looking for an experienced and skilled Project Controls engineer, to join our team and support our current and future energy projects on cost management & forecasting, time scheduling, planning and progress/stakeholder reports. The cost & planning engineer will work closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful completion of projects on time and within budget. The ideal candidates will have a strong background in the energy engineering arena and experience in the project controls for (bio)gas production facilities.


What are your responsibilities?

  • Provide cost reporting, trending, and forecasting against the approved budget, identifying any changes, and preparing appropriate documentation to obtain approval for budget changes.
  • Support preparation of project schedules including review of subcontractor prepared schedules, ensuring they are prepared in accordance with good industry practice and ensuring that such schedules are integrated into an overall project schedule.
  • Monitoring progress against the schedule and the project critical path, preparing updates as required, advising project management of any slippages or trends that will impact the project completion or will impact other contractors and agreeing mitigation plans as appropriate.
  • Assisting in the preparation of project progress reports and management presentations as required.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to assess project requirements and feasibility.
  • Develop and maintain project schedules and budgets, including management level reports
  • Monitor project progress and identify and resolve cost and planning issues.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory authorities.


What we’re looking for


  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering or HND with relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience with cost and planning for the EPC project phases of (bio) production facilities in the O&G arena.
  • Experience with renewable energy projects i.e Wastewater Treatment, Anaerobic Digestion is a plus, but a strong O&G background is also possible.
  • Strong planning and reporting skills using MS Projects (PrimaVera experience preferable but not required).
  • Experience with medium to large EPC projects in the energy sector.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and analytical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.


The Project Controls Engineer will have the opportunity to work on a variety of (bio) gas production projects and contribute to the growth of the company. The Project Controls Engineer will receive on-the-job training and guidance from the Project Manager to develop their project management skills and gain experience in the renewable energy industry.

The Project Controls Engineer will also have the opportunity to work in cutting-edge technology projects and contribute to the development of new (bio)gas production processes.
