Clinical and Counselling Psychologists, Counsellors, Psychotherapists and CBT therapists are invited to apply for this part-time post (22.5 hours per week) working year-round.

About the Role

The post holder will be responsible for their own clinical practice, including professional development. They will contribute to the operational development of the service and support the wider work of the Counselling Service within colleges, departments and external services.

All counsellors are expected to work on one evening a week during term-time. All counsellors attend the weekly staff meeting (currently Wednesday 13.00 to 14.15). The post holder will report to one of the Deputy Heads of Counselling. The service currently works under the Universities New Ways of Working Framework and therefore a hybrid working pattern with a minimum expectation of one day per week on-site and a minimum of one day to be worked remotely is offered.

About You

Applicants must have British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy Individual Counsellor Accreditation/UKCP Registration or equivalent body eg Chartership with the British Psychological Society (BPS); Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) in the case of a Psychologist, qualified as a Clinical or Counselling Psychologist.

Applicants must have substantial experience of delivering individual, psychodynamic and/or cognitive behavioural counselling/psychotherapy for a range of psychological problems and at significant depth, as well as the experience and ability of adapting a therapeutic model to a brief approach.

We are seeking to recruit an individual who displays a flexible approach with excellent planning, communication and organisational skills and who will be willing to take an active role in the development of the service. You will have an expert knowledge of best counselling practice and be capable of working in a complex and challenging environment.

All applicants must be experienced and confident working remotely, including providing assessments and ongoing counselling online.
