Cyber Security Engineer – Reading/Hybrid – Up to £50k + Benefits

Cyber Security Engineer required to join the growing cyber security team at a large enterprise serving millions of customers!

In this challenging and varied role Cyber Security Engineer role, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining security solutions, controls and processes across this large-scale business which has over 7000 users! This is a role where you will be able to fully utilise your good understanding of security engineering concepts, technologies and best practices, deploy tools and build and deliver capability. This role will also see you collaborate effectively with colleagues across a number of different teams.

Amongst your responsibilities, you will:

  • Support the creation of a secure asset build and system hardening capability
  • Develop cyber security engineering strategies and controls that align with organisational goals
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of cyber security engineering documentation, policies, and procedures
  • Integrate cyber security solutions (e.g. privileged access management tools) with existing systems, applications, and infrastructure
  • Perform assessments on cloud security and create documentation that enables the business to use the cloud securely
  • Liaise and coordinate with technology and business stakeholders about cyber security patching and vulnerability management issues/actions
  • Develop and maintain dashboards with cyber security engineering metrics
  • Identity & Access Management, Privileged Access Management (CyberArk) and Network Appliance (Firewalls, VPN, etc.) tooling support and maintenance

Reporting into the Lead Cyber Security Engineer, you will have plenty of opportunity to learn and test and advance your skills across a range of projects.


To be considered you must have a cyber security background with c1-2 years experience gained in a large enterprise environment. You must have:


  • A broad IT knowledge spanning infrastructure, network security and application security
  • Good knowledge of MS Stack including exposure to Active Directory, Entra ID and Sentinel
  • Knowledge of Identity & Access Management, Privileged Access Management (CyberArk) and Network Appliance (Firewalls, VPN, etc.) tooling support and maintenance
  • Linux/Unix is desirable but not essential
  • Ideally you will hold a relevant a degree in Cyber Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field


Alongside your technical skills you will also have strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and good decision-making skills and will be an excellent communicator.


In return you can expect a salary of up to £50k plus a benefits package including pension, 26 days holiday, medical and other perks. This is a hybrid role that offers a lot of flexibility to work remotely from home, and you can expect to be in the office in Reading 1-2 times per week.
