Are you a Data Scientist with a passion for economics? A leading economics consultancy seeks a Data Scientist, to support the Head of Data Science in spearheading its capabilities in this space in its London Office.
As a Data Scientist, you will be working closely with the Head of Data Science to build a team and shape the company’s data science strategy, as it incorporates complex machine learning, big data sets, and artificial intelligence to guide key economic decisions.

Role Requirements for Data Scientist
This is a brand-new practice, and this economic consultancy is excited to build its capabilities in the field of data science. We’re talking about complex machine learning, big data sets and AI to guide economic decisions.
As a Data Scientist, you will be supporting the Lead Data Scientist and Head of Data Science, in setting up, growing and managing their data science offering across Europe. With your extensive knowledge of data science and analytics, strategic vision, and can-do attitude, you’ll be key in driving the growth of this firm, promoting best practices, and delivering exceptional service for its clients.

As a Data Scientist, you will:
- Support Senior Data Scientists and Senior consultants to shape the scope of data science projects or the data science component of economics projects in a way that generates value for clients and wider business
- Develop and implement the company’s data science strategy, leveraging machine learning, big data and AI to inform economic decisions
- Collaborate with other departments to identify new opportunities and uses for data science
- Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in data science and AI to ensure the company is using the most effective techniques
- Use your knowledge of econometrics and statistics to provide data-led insight to clients
The ideal Data Scientist will have:
- A PhD or Master’s degree in a relevant field such as statistics, econometrics, mathematics or computer science
- Experience in implementing supervised and unsupervised learning algorithms to develop insights
- Experience in implementing causal data science methods, such as experiments, or double machine learning is desirable
- Strong knowledge of statistics, analytics, econometrics, or machine learning
- Strong knowledge in Python or R for data wrangling, causal or predictive analytics and data visualisation (familiarity with Stata and Excel is a plus!)
- Experience in SQL
