Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Day Support Operator on a One Year Fixed Term Industrial Staff Contract , within the Performance Chemicals business at Ellesmere Port.


The jobholders role is to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of raw materials and finished goods within the production processes, while maintaining a safe and high-quality environment. This include receiving, storing, preparing and delivering materials according to production and material schedule. This position plays a vital role in keeping the production line running smoothly by ensuring steady flow of materials and finished goods, as well as supporting the plant teams with materials management (ex: waste).


Overall Responsibilities:


Receiving & Storage:

• For Bulk Materials: Receive incoming raw materials, verifying quantities and quality against delivery notes.

• Maintain accurate records of all received materials, including type, quantity and location.

• Properly store raw materials according to safety regulations and FIFO principle (First In, First Out)

and delivery to plant according to the needs.


Preparation & Delivery:

• Prepare raw materials for production as required by orders and production planning.

• Prepare final production for transfer (tank to tank transfer).

• Ensure materials are melted or processed in correct manner and at the designated time.

• Deliver prepared materials to designated production areas in timely and efficient manner.

• Ensure samples are collected and delivered according to time requirement.


Troubleshooting & Communication:

• Identify and troubleshoot problems related to raw material availability, preparation or delivery.

• Proactively flag any potential delays or issues that could impact production.

• Communicate effectively with Plant Manager and/or supervisor, planning department and other

relevant personnel to address issues and ensure smooth operations.

• Report any problems beyond their capability to resolve to the appropriate supervisor.


Specific Tasks and Deliverables:

• Assist PC1 shift teams in movement of chemicals in / out of the production areas, including waste

movement.

• Rotate hotbox contents to meet production demands.

• Monitoring of the Bulk Tracker for product despatches and ensuring tanks are heated in good time.

• Performing the tank-to-tank transfers, including inspection of the receiving tanks and ensuring

presented documentation is accurate and attachment of security tags.

• Taking ISO tank raw materials, hotbox and PC1 samples to QC for analyses.

• Trouble shoot off load / loading issues.

• Routine top up of chemicals for the demineralised water purification system.

• Routine cleaning duties of L-Asp house and general waste bin empty.

• Support the Plant Manager with task prioritisation.

• Shunting of ISOs to and from the plant.

• Organising of ISOs on Tel 3 heating station, communicating with SMV driver to ensure ISOs are in

place in good time.

• Organising with Site Environmental Officer, IBC waste collections.

• Updating of waste management files.

• Communicating with Logistics administration and supply chain daily.

• Prep and load waste IBCS for disposal.

• End of month stock counts.


Role Requirements:

• NVQ Level 2 in Process Plant Operations

• Relevant experience within high risk chemical manufacturer and ISO tank movements

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to prioritise tasks and work effectively under pressure

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Basic understanding of production processes, inventory management principles and quality control principles

• Ability to operate basic material handling equipment safely. Work safely and follow all safety

procedures, including report of any unsafe practices

• Fork Lift Truck License holder
