About the Role:

The Depot Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily management of five highways depots in Surrey, ensuring the efficient and safe delivery of services 24/7. This role involves managing staff, resources, and equipment to maintain high standards of service and compliance with health and safety regulations.


Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the depot, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently and safely.
  • Manage all aspects of HS&E compliance for the five depots that are located across Surrey. This includes Emergency arrangements, first aid, and fire management.
  • Make sure that each depot has an up-to-date Depot Management Plan that is regularly reviewed under the requirements detailed within the plan.
  • Ensure that third-party audits, such as BSI, are facilitated and any actions are recorded, managed and closed out.
  • Develop and implement a robust auditing regime.
  • Ensure that stock is procured in accordance with company processes and that minimum stock levels are maintained including undertaking monthly stock audits.
  • General facilities management requirements are undertaken to ensure the depots are a safe place to work.
  • Management of plant and equipment including compliance such as LOLER.
  • Manage waste streams entering and leaving the depot.


Qualifications:

  • Full Driving Licence
  • Proven experience in depot or operations management, preferably within the highways or transportation sector
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent understanding of health and safety regulations
  • Good financial management and budgeting skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills


Required Skills:

  • Relevant qualifications in management, logistics, or a related field.
  • Experience with traffic management and highways maintenance
  • Experience in facilities management.
