DEPUTY CARE HOME MANAGER (CLINICAL) - St Peter’s Residence London


JOB SUMMARY


·        37.5 hours per week

·        Annual salary £60,616

·        Occasional late, night and weekend shifts

·        The Deputy Care Home Manager will assist the Home Manager, in overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring the provision of high-quality care to residents, managing staff, implementing policies and procedures, maintaining regulatory compliance and quality assurance.

·        Providing support to the Senior Nurse, effective clinical leadership, and Supporting and mentoring the nursing/care team as required. Share clinical knowledge and experience with the team, offering appropriate guidance and assistance.


MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES


·        In the absence of the Home Manager with her direction take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the Care home, and ensure that all Little Sisters policies, procedures, and all legal requirements, are adhered to.

·        Provide support to the Home Manager, in all aspects of the administration of the Home and lead on preparation for inspections by the Care Inspectorate/ CQC, other regulatory bodies and local authorities.

·        Working with the Unit sisters /Senior Nurse, nurses and Care Team Leaders, ensure a high standard of nursing care that meets all residents’ individual needs.

·        Keep the Care Home Manager updated on individual residents’ care and condition in conjunction with the Senior Nurse, Unit Sisters and Care Team Leaders, with particular reference to residents with unstable and/or unpredictable conditions, new residents and those in the terminal phase of end-of-life care.

·        Lead and performance manage the medical team on all units (nurse’s team, team leaders, and healthcare assistants).

·        Undertake specialist project work as directed by the Home Manager, Take the initiative in being able to identify issues and provide potential solutions.

·        Ensuring Compliance: Ensuring that the care home operates in compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies. This includes health and safety regulations, safeguarding protocols, and care quality standards set by regulatory bodies.

·        Assist the Home Manager in various contacts with regulatory bodies, coordinating all requests for information and ensuring that information is collated and recorded in line with requirements.

·        Assist the Home Manager in ensuring that all documentation is in place, including regular filing and maintenance of records

·        Deal with routine correspondence as directed by the Home Manager.

·        Undertake such duties and responsibilities reasonably consistent with the role as may be required from time to time by the Home Manager.

·        Uphold the values and ethos of the Home.

·        Handling Complaints and Concerns: Addressing any complaints or concerns raised by residents, their families, or staff members in a timely and sensitive manner. Investigating complaints thoroughly and implementing measures to prevent recurrence where necessary.

·        Quality Assurance: Participating in quality assurance activities such as audits, inspections, and resident/staff satisfaction surveys to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the care home maintains high standards of care and service delivery.

·        Emergency Response: Acting as a point of contact and providing leadership during emergencies or crisis management scenarios, such as outbreaks of illness or adverse events affecting residents or staff.

3.   Candidate must have the ability to demonstrate their performance management skills, tools used and ability to lead

4.   Previous experience in leadership and management in a home care setting

5.   A proactive approach to continuous improvement, with a willingness to participate in quality assurance activities, engage in reflective practice and implement innovations to enhance the quality of care and service delivery.

6.   To ensure compliance with the Health & Safety at Work Act Policies and Procedures

7.   To comply with regulations of the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations.


Qualifications


·        SVQ/NVQ 4 Health and Social Care

·        Level 5 Leadership and Management in Adult Care- working toward or willing to complete

·        Nursing degree. NMC registration- (nursing associated could be a deputy if NMC register

·        Level 3 Safeguarding Vulnerable Adults

·        Mentor/Supervision qualification
