Job Description

We are looking to appoint an outstanding practitioner, manager and leader as our new deputy headteacher from April 2024, or as soon after as possible. This role will have a teaching commitment as part of the role.Ashurst Primary is a one-form entry school, with its own nursery provision. During the last twelve months we have moved into a brand-new school which has launched the opening of a SEMH provision in September 2023. This is an exciting time to join our senior leadership team and school as a whole. It is important that you can work effectively to continue to build on the school’s many successes and the strategic vision of our school for the future. Your role will come with overall responsibility for teaching and learning ‘Building Learning Power’, pupil premium and supporting with SEMH needs of all our children as school and within the provision, adding support to the SENCO team. Ashurst Primary School is a good and flourishing school which is popular with parents. The successful candidates must:- Be an outstanding classroom practitioner with experience across the primary phase- Have experience of successful middle and subject leadership- Ability to lead and manage a range of staff effectively- Demonstrate high expectations for all pupils including key groups such as PPG & SEN- Promote outstanding behaviour and attitudes for learning- Demonstrate excellent behaviour management strategies and outstanding pastoral care- Experience of leading on curriculum development resulting in positive outcomes for pupils- Ability to read and interpret data to inform teaching & learning and contribute effectively to good or better progress for all pupils- Excellent communication skills- Contribute to the wider life of the school community, including after school clubs/activities- Work effectively with parents, governors and other stakeholders by establishing and maintaining excellent relationships We can offer you:- Enthusiastic and well-behaved children- A committed, hardworking and supportive SLT & MLT- Personalised CPD as part of our ‘Building Learning Power’ school approach- Staff who work effectively together and are committed to raising standards for all pupils- Supportive parents- An effective and committed governing body Visits to the school are welcomed and actively encouraged to ensure a thorough understanding of this role.
