We are looking to appoint a versatile and talented senior leader to the post of Deputy Headteacher in our oversubscribed generic special school, which caters for children aged between 2-11 years. Chellow Heights is a maintained special school set on two sites located approximately 7 miles apart in the city of Bradford with over 250 pupils on roll. If you have a genuine love of learning and an appreciation of how a nurturing and caring environment can support all children to grow into happy, healthy, and successful individuals, you would make a great addition to our team

The successful applicant will:

  • Work alongside the Headteacher to support and develop strategic initiatives and drive forward continuous whole school improvement.
  • Play a key role in the Senior Leadership Team, with particular reference to personal development and behaviour, monitoring and analysing outcomes, monitoring the quality of education, and leading on curriculum development.
  • Deputise in the absence of the headteacher demonstrating confidence in making decisions and operating within agreed levels of autonomy
  • Have at least 3 years’ experience of school leadership in a special school setting, including managing staff performance and professional development.
  • Have proven high quality experience of supporting children with a range of complex needs.
  • Knowledge of successful strategies for meeting the needs of children with PMLD, SLD and ASC is essential, as is an understanding of behaviour and strategies to support students with sensory processing needs.
  • Play an integral role in developing the culture and practice throughout school on our journey to outstanding
  • Be a resilient individual who is prepared to work flexibly in a vibrant, caring, and supportive environment.
  • To be a role model to staff demonstrating professional behaviours and be an ambassador for demonstrating positive wellbeing in the workplace
  • Be aspirational an aspirational leader, committed to both their own professional development
