We hand-cook every single one of our meals at our Production kitchen (The Greenhouse) in Blackhorse Road, London . Our Production team is at the heart of delivering an unforgettable experience for our customers and to inspire the planet to eat more plants and help to solve the climate crisis

The role: overview

As a Deputy Team Leader you will support the Team Leader with leading the teams to safely deliver the daily production schedule on time, budget and to the correct quality standards. The role requires good communication with department leads, team managers, and team members. This role is one part of our larger Production Team all working together to produce delicious meals, every day.

Salary:£32,833.19

Location: Blackhorse Road, London, E17

Shift Pattern:Night Shift: Sunday - Wednesday (39.5 hours)

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure Health and Safety processes are followed at all times.
  • Ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed at all times.
  • Responsible for food safety, process compliance and quality.
  • Coaching team members to achieve performance targets through clear, thoughtful and honest feedback.
  • To review daily shift performance with teams in relation to site safety, quality, attainment to plan and material usage.
  • To deputise for the team leader in their absence, and attend the daily operations meetings with shift managers with a summary of the previous day's performance (accidents, near misses, quality concerns, equipment related downtime).
  • Promoting a positive, collaborative and constructive atmosphere in the team.
  • Adjusting daily plans according to production needs.
  • Reporting directly to the team leader and shift manager on daily production targets and KPIs.
  • Upholding best practices and procedures to ensure the highest standards of production are met.
  • Monitor and ensure the correct recording of CCP checks reporting and actioning any deviations in line with procedure.
  • Monitor the team's adherence to all relevant checks in relation to product temperatures, eg, raw materials, WIP items, and finished products to ensure they are within specification.
  • To ensure the correct use of materials in the correct rotation and use by dates, taking into consideration any internal WIP life. Investigate any yield issues to ensure shortages are understood and escalated to the process team.
  • Ensure all products are labelled or date coded with the correct information to match the production paperwork.
  • To ensure that all equipment and fabric in the production, kitchen and warehousing areas are in good condition, safe and clear from foreign bodies. All equipment should be assessed correctly with daily start up checks. Ensuring that any defective or damaged machinery is correctly checked, reporting any issues.
  • To ensure all relevant technical and process information / samples are collected.
  • Ensure all Quality and Photo Standards are displayed for the relevant processes.
  • To ensure that the staff comply with hygiene and safety requirements including allergen controls, personal hygiene procedures, and the correct PPE.
  • Ensure all shift paperwork is completed in full and legible on the latest version of paperwork and handed to the shift manager at the end of shift.
  • Follow the list of ‘golden rules’ for your respective department that includes daily and weekly duties.

Desired skills and experience:*

  • Experience in food production or commercial kitchen (preferred but not essential).
  • Good communication skills including spoken and written English.
  • The ability to encourage great team performance in a challenging and at times a repetitive work environment.
  • Self motivation and the ability to work on your own initiative.
  • Great attention to detail and a keen sense of responsibility.
  • Experience with leading teams and the ability to delegate and direct tasks to team members to achieve daily targets.
