What You’ll Do
For our Seals Site located in Aycliffe, we are looking for a Design and Development Engineer to join our team.
This position has responsibility for the development and design of sealing systems for new and existing seal products for building sector.
Your main Responsibilities:
- Design solutions for new products development within the given framework of all on site development activities.
- expert assistance on thermoplastic extrusion. This includes promote the technology and performing specific project responsibilities.
- trials, mainly in extrusion, in support of customers and internal development works, creating prototypes, analyzing test data and document results in test reports.
- strong collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure integration of innovation initiatives and product development process.
- as project leader on new product development collaborating with cross-functional teams and following new product development from concept to production release.
- up to date with advancements in material technology and industry trends and incorporating new technologies into the production process as appropriate. With the material choice proposed, able to meet our environmental, mechanical and sealing performance requirements.
- project meetings, define project deliverables, monitor timelines and resources whilst reporting and challenging deviations.
- validate new designs, processes, and materials through testing, experimentation, and evaluation.
- product functional analysis (based on standards) to translate customer specifications and internal requirements into clear product performance criteria.

Skills/Experiences
- or master’s degree or equivalent in polymer engineering, materials science, or a related field
- understanding of polymer science and technology, with a focus on thermoplastic elastomers extrusion processes.
- of 5 years’ experience in the plastics industry and time served in an Engineering discipline
- communication skills
- Ability to support multiple projects to achieve desired goals.
- Project Management, capacity to follow the innovative projects and new projects development request.
- Demonstrate a spirit of innovation, a willingness to suggest and the ability to support the implementation of modifications of existing equipment and processes.
- Flexibility in work assignments to accommodate group and personal goals.
- Proactive in learning about new and existing technologies.
- design and prototyping skills, including experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software.

Desired Characteristics
- Working knowledge of various sealing technologies.
- Design feasibility of Sealing parts like windows Primary Seal and Secondary Seal, door seal.
