Duties & Responsibilities

Purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing designs and drawings from concept through to detailed design and setting up parts and bill of materials. Working within the Global engineering team, the Designer will focus on reviewing customer requirements and developing parts and designs.

Functions

ESSENTIAL

• Provides design solutions to a variety of technical challenges.

• Interprets functional and technical customer and industry specifications (ASME, API, NACE, etc) in order to produce the best design solution to satisfy project requirements, considering timescale, cost, safety, client and industry standards.

• Performs 3D and 2D design activities using computer aided design/drafting software and produces machining/fabrication drawings in support of the development, commercialization and sustaining of products.

• Provides customer-specific designs based on standard products.

• Creates part numbers and bills of materials in an ERP system.

• Creates detailed multiview manufacturing drawings for machined, forged or cast parts, sub-assemblies and assemblies.

• Sketches rough layout of machine and computes angles, weights, surface area, dimensions, radii, clearances, tolerances, leverages and location of holes.

• Checks drawings, specifications, procedures, and bills of material in accordance with quality management system processes and procedures.

• Coordinates with offshore design office for their work assignments.

• Interfaces with internal customers to understand their project/design requirements & discuss design options.

• Where appropriate, liaises with other designer and team members across globe to gain experience of company product lines and processes.

• Contributes to the development and maintenance of design and development processes and procedures for the business unit.

• Generates and communicates change notice to the business for any permanent changes to parts or drawings.

• Offers direct and indirect mentorship to offshore design office, developing designers, engineers and technicians.

• Assist with other planned/un-planned activities to ensure the smooth running of the department/site.

• Support other functions to enable a successful (safe, on time, with high quality and on budget) project execution.

• Identify opportunities for improvement of Company's products and/or processes.

• Support the execution of product and/or process improvement projects.

• Participate in HSE Awareness - Observation Cards, HSE Safety Suggestions

• Ensure any work-related concerns or breaches in business standards are highlighted to management in a timely manner and in accordance with any relevant procedures or processes.

• Any other roles or tasks as required to support business needs including carrying out work in accordance with the Company Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems

Qualifications

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• HNC or HND qualification in design and drafting or equivalent.

• 5 to 10 years of related experience

• Knowledge of GD&T and Tolerance stack-up

• Competent in related MS Office suite

• Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Inventor / Solidworks

DESIRED

Experience working in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing or related industry.
