Job Description

Development Chef

£30,000 - £35,000

Norfolk

Opportunity for an innovative Chef to showcase their culinary skills in retail food development.

Here you'll be creating delicious new products for major retail customers. It's a chance to see your creations on the supermarket shelves within innovative, culinary-led product categories.

You'll be part of a talented creative team, responding to customer's briefs and creating commercially successful new concepts that meet customer and consumer needs. It's a hands-on role, developing recipes in the development kitchen, calculating product costings and preparing product samples. You'll be involved in sourcing ingredients with suppliers and ensuring products have the right packaging. You'll be involved in product handover to the factory, ensuring concepts can be effectively scaled up to launch. It's a varied role that involves building strong relationships with teams across all business areas, customers, and external suppliers.

You'll be joining a well-established and successful major food manufacturing group. You'll be based at a growing site, that already has a wide portfolio of innovative products. The business has a great track record in providing career development opportunities across the group and many former Development Chefs who now sit in senior leadership positions.

This role would suit an experienced Chef with a hospitality background looking to get into Food Development. You'll need a breadth of culinary knowledge and leadership experience at Sous or Head Chef level.

It would also suit an existing Development Chef, looking to join an innovative, growing food business with plenty of career development opportunities.

You'll need to have experience in menu costing and working with suppliers to source ingredients. A given is a clear passion for food, creativity, and know-how in the kitchen. The role will involve customer presentations so you'll need to be confident in showcasing your ideas. You'll also need a good level of IT proficiency although all aspects of the systems used can be taught.

It's a Mon-Fri days based role on site.
