Development Chemist
£25,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience

Are you an experienced formulator with a true passion for developing innovative product ranges? Blush & Bloom are working exclusively with a leading, reputable full-service manufacturer in the cosmetics, personal care, pet care and household industries. Well-known for their top-quality products and manufacturing capabilities, this organisation has experienced incredible growth over the past few years and as such, are now looking for a Development Chemist to join their R&D team.
The ideal candidate will have experience developing formulations from scratch as well as all relevant testing, ideally with some knowledge of regulations in the industry too!
Key Duties:
- Work with customers to understand the product briefing, aiding with the conception and ideation of compelling product ranges.
- Utilising raw material innovation to incorporate into formulas.
- Creating sample submissions for customers to evaluate.
- Develop and deliver formulations to meet the customer brief, researching new trends, ingredients and technologies and incorporating these into NPD projects.
- Manage the formula development from concept to launch, right through to production.
- Liaise with other member of the team e.g. Commercial, Quality, Production, Management etc. to ensure smooth running of the projects.
- Conduct testing on products including stability, pH, viscosity etc.
- Organise testing and maintain accurate records.
- General regulatory duties such as preparing PIFs and ensuring other general regulatory documentation is prepared and completed.
- Supervise at first production, ensuring high quality product is produced.
- Monitor and record industry trends, ensuring to keep abreast of emerging technologies.
- Benchmark competitor products.
Key Requirements:
- Scientific degree in a related field e.g. Cosmetic Science, Chemistry or similar
- Experience working on cosmetic, household or pet care product formulations
- Able to develop formulas from concept to launch, following the NPD process
- Knowledge of Cosmetic Regulations e.g. CLP
- Great organisational skills
