We're therefore looking for someone highly skilled in Cloud Migrations and particularly AWS. You'll have the opportunity to work on some of the most complex migrations in the UK and be part of the strategy team (and subsequent delivery team) of each migration.

This is an end user organisation (not consultancy), and like everyone else, the organisation has broken down every silo within engineering. Like many others, they are looking to move to product teams with embedded engineers.

Unlike everyone else however, everything is currently still on-prem with existing private cloud solutions. The company have decided now is the right time to make wholesale migrations to AWS, with 70% of these product teams having the capacity to do so.

Containers will still excite you, and you'll ideally be a competent coder (Go or Python), you'll still be very hands on, and more than competent with AWS.

This is also an opportunity to join a team focussed on DevOps Tooling. Setting tooling standards for Engineering within each Product team. What they should be using, should they Buy or Build, setting consistent standards and service discovery. What monitoring/logging solution should they adopt, is Consol/Vault the right solution for them, how should they be using these tools.

The role will also give you the opportunity to work with Amazons new orchestration tool EKS. After working with Kubernetes on a wholesale basis, the organisation have decided to make the transition to EKS, becoming one of the earliest movers. Those currently unaware of EKS should check out the news from this years re:Invent, but it looks to be the latest shake up in the orchestrion world.

There is no doubt this is a challenge.

We are looking for someone who still has the fire left inside for another challenging opportunity. Perhaps your latest challenge has all but been resolved and you want to move away from BAU. Perhaps your latest challenge, turned out to not be challenging enough.

You'll be seen as an evangelist, and no doubt receive friction from each team when discussing standardisation. We need someone who isn't a shrinking violet and has the personality traits to enable them to educate, consultant and advise on specific tooling.

Please get in touch with me to discuss further
