The post holder will be based at DarlingtonMemorial Hospital or University Hospital of North Durham but may be occasionally required to cover other areas withinthe locality of County Durham and Darlington including University HospitalNorth Durham and Bishop Auckland Hospital. There may be some general dieteticclinics, telephone clinics and other acute ward work. As a team we complete competencies to enableus to work in extended scope practice in enteral tube feeding. Patients will be seen ina variety of settings including hospital wards, outpatient clinics, andtelephone clinics. The post holder will work closely with other Dietitians andmembers of the wider multidisciplinary team. The department trains dietetic students (A, B and Cplacement) and the post holder will have an active role in student trainingplanning, co-ordination and assessment The Nutrition and Dietetic service is structuredinto teams; secondary care (incorporating nutrition support and critical care),bariatrics, primary care (incorporating care home training), adult &paediatric diabetes, adult Home Enteral Feeding, paediatrics (incorporatingHome Enteral Feeding and paediatric weight management). the nutrition anddietetic service comprises of 6 teams, with 49 Dietitians, 1 Specialist Nurse, 4Dietetic assistants and we are supported by central administration. We arebased on 4 sites in the County, at Darlington Memorial Hospital, UniversityHospital North Durham, Bishop Auckland Hospital and Shotley Bridge Hospital. Person Specification Special Requirements Essential Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post Special Skills & Knowledge Essential IT skills including Word and Excel or equivalent Desirable Experience of using SystmOne and Cerner or other electronic patient record system Statutory Registration Essential Current registration as Dietitian with Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Desirable Member of British Dietetic Association Experience Essential Successful completion of dietetic placements Desirable Experience of clinical audit Experience of working within a hospital environment Qualifications Essential Degree or post-graduate diploma in Dietetics
