Full Time, Two Years Fixed Term.
The experience expected from applicants, as well as additional skills and qualifications needed for this job are listed below.
We are looking for three experienced Digital Content Editors (DCEs) to join our team and help shape the University’s digital future. Our main websites have an incredibly diverse set of audiences – from school children through to prospective students, from thought leaders in ground-breaking research to world leaders in commerce and industry.
Our Web Transformation Programme is going to create compelling digital user experiences for these (and many other) audiences, introducing new tools, processes and most importantly; digital content that inspires and engages them to form meaningful relationships with the University.
Reporting to the Digital Content Strategist, the DCEs will be responsible for taking ownership over significant sections of digital content on our main website(s), identifying new content hierarchies that hit the sweet spot between user and business needs.
The DCEs will also edit (or write from scratch where necessary) engaging digital copy, select appropriate imagery and build the pages in our chosen content management system. To do this, you will need exceptional copywriting skills, a flair for the creative and an eye for detail.
You will have extensive experience of writing engaging digital content for a variety of audiences, working in brand-controlled environments and using robust tracking and sign off processes.
You will need to be familiar with combining various sources of information to create these new page structures, and have effective communication and negotiation skills to ensure that content owners from around the university sign off your proposals.
You will be working in a fast-paced and agile environment, in daily contact with world-experts in their fields and responsible for translating their knowledge into effective, user-centric content. At the same time, you will be contributing to an exciting project that seeks to introduce exciting new functionality, design and value to our digital offering – meaning that your contribution to the wider programme will be essential in shaping a new future for digital communications at the University.
Interview date: TBC.
