About the role and what you'll be doing -
You will lead a digital team and project, responsible for the design and production of CAD models and images collaborating with the wider team of designers and project managers to track and deliver targets.
- Proactively lead the co-ordination and delivery of digital projects with the main focus on Exterior Design Projects
- Co-ordinate and manage a digital modelling team to ensure a high quality of output and that project targets and deliverables are met
- Ensure the integrity of CAD data and verify the data is suitable for its intended purpose
- with alternative and advanced CAD modelling and visualisation techniques
- Delegate digital tasks within a given project amongst other digital modellers to ensure key project milestones are met in accordance with Design Project Managers (DPM's) overall schedule
- Participate in project meetings where necessary and ensure the relevant information is communicated to the other digital modellers assigned to the project
- Assist in the co-ordination of the digital design via CAD modelling
- Communicate any concerns regarding the quality of the digital design model data to the other digital modellers within the project team and the Design Project Manager.
- Ensure the CAD master file is kept up to date in accordance with the project schedule.
- Proactively contribute alternative and advanced uses of new software/hardware to improve overall efficiency within the team
- Ensure 'Best Practice' is followed at all times
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience of managing a team within a design studio environment and leading a Digital Project
- Strong project management skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of automotive design and engineering
- Design Industry expertise
- Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to a team
- A strong communicator and able to work with cross functional teams to deliver projects
- Have strong attention to detail with the ability to work to deadlines
- Confident to challenge ideas in a positive way
- Flexible and agile approach, embracing changes that arise
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Degree in Automotive Design or equivalent
- Experience in all stages of the automotive design process from conception to production
- Working knowledge of automotive and whole vehicle programmes
- Working knowledge of CAD software modelling and leading Exterior projects, skills should include:
- Autodesk Alias
- Sketch modelling (NURBS)
- Polygon Modelling & Re-topology
- Class A surfacing
- CAD Data Conversion
