We are looking for a Digital Sector Lead – Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Security to join our Artificial Intelligence and Cyber Security team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing BSI Knowledge Strategy in this significant sector, understanding the market drivers and trends, the future standards and regulatory landscape, and positioning BSI’s capabilities to meet industry needs.

The job holder will develop new and existing opportunities and growth; develop strategic programs, standards, and related products and services, and raise the organisation's profile within a specific market segment. This will involve helping to shape BSI’s customer proposition for existing and prospective stakeholders across AI and Cyber Security technologies and services, and the related supply chain and eco-system.

As a Digital Sector Lead – Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Cyber Security you will develop and implement strategies for engaging with the sector, industry bodies, government departments, research community, and academic institutions and regulators, ensuring BSI and its community of experts, are positioned as the global thought leaders in the development and implementation of business-relevant digital standards and best practice, and the strategic partner of choice for Government and industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • To lead and support the development of the digital sector across BSI Knowledge Solutions, identifying high-value opportunities and bringing together the various operational contacts to ensure clear responsibility and development path for significant areas of work.
  • Support the development of BSI Knowledge Solutions sector strategy and of high-profile programs of work with the UK Government and industry, linked to the innovation agenda for AI and Cyber Security.
  • Acquire insight into key market trends and developments and monitor opportunities to support growth or innovation within the digital sector through interaction with the sector eco-system.
  • Identify stakeholder needs based on competitor activity and the broader political and societal landscape. Work across the business to ensure that these needs are converted into stakeholder-focused solutions, and provide market context for the content product, sales, and marketing teams as appropriate.
  • Support BSI Knowledge Solutions’ work in cross-cutting digital transformational themes and how these might align with future sustainable development goals, supply chain resilience, and broader sustainability/net-zero targets.
  • To facilitate sector networking and organise events and workshops with potential partners and partners.
  • Build a strategic industry network, and regulatory and government contacts, participating in industry fora and initiatives to promote the role of standards and BSI, working across the digital infrastructure eco-system developing strategic partnerships and relationships with industry and government contacts, and positioning BSI with decision-makers.
  • To contribute to developing business cases for new services that will enable the development of new and/or existing areas, meeting specifically identified stakeholder needs to either increase revenue or raise the profile of BSI in line with the strategic aims of each sector
  • Identify new opportunities and leads for consulting, research and private/public standards development solutions, and work with the Services team to bring these to fruition, supporting the development of proposals and business cases to appropriate sign-off, internal and external.
  • As required, acting as project lead or sponsor on large-scale services delivery programs and externally funded projects, ensuring that the project meets the needs of the client and that issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  • Working with the sales and marketing teams, develop BSI’s existing and future value proposition for the sector, and define the promotional and marketing plan to build BSI’s profile across the digital sector.
  • Provide a visible BSI presence in the sector through public speaking, media, exhibitions, conferences, and social media.
  • Set the direction for new standards activity in the sector, identifying areas for the development of new standards, and assessing business cases for new standards, committees, and products, with a focus on market adoption and take-up

What we are looking for:

Education/Qualifications

  • A relevant degree-level qualification and/or experience in a directly related subject (e.g. AI, Cyber Security, digital in emerging technologies and their application)

Knowledge & Experience

  • Extensive experience working in digital, AI, Cyber Security, and high-tech sectors or relevant consultancy, or experience working in a digital transformation role in the public or private sector.
  • A proven track record of developing/leading impactful strategy, industry transformation, or change
  • Experience in weighing economic, social, political, and technological considerations to take abroad perspective on issues and using this to take decisions.
  • Experience in getting things done in a complex system or sector with competing priorities.
  • A strong grasp of related policy, trends, drivers, and technologies affecting the above and wider   technology sector in terms of future digital transformation challenges and opportunities.
  • A good understanding of the regulatory landscape affecting digital technologies and services in particular key drivers and compliance or approval regimes.
  • Knowledge of the role and application of standards within an industry or technology area
  • Experience in convening stakeholders to deliver complex projects, research, and strategic
  • partnerships.
  • Strong strategic and commercial outlook
  • Ability to engage with a wide level of contacts from the board room, government ministers to
  • technical experts
  • Lead and influence others in a matrix organisation
  • Ability to network across new areas and build strong and trusted business relationships
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to communicate complex messages and ideas and
  • influence decision-makers
  • Excellent presentation skills and experience in public speaking
