About the Role:

CrowdStrike’s Falcon platform is responsible for the building blocks which power applications that “Stop breaches”. We work on some of the world’s most highly-scaled distributed systems, processing hundreds of billions of events each day.

We are seeking a Director of Data Engineering to lead strategic capabilities within our Data Science team. We are at the exciting intersection of Machine Learning, Big Data, and Security. The Data Engineering team provides the necessary infrastructure and services for users to leverage Machine Learning products. In this role you will interact with Product Managers, Machine learning experts and Engineering leaders in CrowdStrike and build both internal and external facing services.

What You’ll Do:

  • Lead the Data Engineering team that powers the big data processing for CrowdStrike’s machine learning-based detection technologies.
  • Set the vision for a data-driven Data Science Platform to enable rapid research and development, engage with stakeholders to understand their use cases, and build systems that accelerate the ML teams.
  • Build cohesive, high-functioning teams that thrive in an environment of trust, respect, and inclusion.
  • Ensure your teams fully understand the goals and objectives of CrowdStrike’s mission and how their work fits into the bigger picture.
  • Support the professional development of managers and engineers in your org through coaching, mentorship, and performance management.
  • Partner in a leading role with Product Management and Engineering leadership in quarterly and yearly planning.

What You’ll Need:

  • Demonstrated track record of building a strong core engineering team and engineering team management
  • Experience with shipping high quality software in a cloud environment
  • Experience with building large scale infrastructure that can ingest and analyze billions of events per day.
  • Experience with distributed system design and associated tradeoffs.
  • Docker-based development and orchestration exposure.
  • Strong cross-group collaboration and interpersonal communication skills working with variety of roles including engineering, product management, support and sales engineering
  • Experience working with remote teams and individuals while ensuring agility and code velocity
