The Global Pricing & Analytics function within Global Value & Access (GV&A) partners with cross-functional teams on brand-specific pricing strategies and leads operational pricing and analytics activities. This role works closely with internal stakeholders across GV&A, Local Value & Access, Finance, Legal, IT, Global Commercial Product Strategy (GCPS), Global Analytics & Insights, amongst others.

Executive Director of Global Pricing & Analytics and will work in alignment with Oncology Global Pricing & Analytics Lead. The role will work in close partnership with the Liver/Inflammation and Oncology GV&A Teams and with various Therapeutic Area Teams within GCSO. The broad therapeutic area scope enables this role to work in different stages of a product’s lifecycle: pipeline (oncology and inflammation), launch and growth. Both strategic and tactical decisions will be made based upon input and/or recommendations provided by the individual that is selected for this role.

As a Director in this role, your core job responsibilities will be:

Pricing Strategy for launch and pipeline assets

  • Scope covers the various products in the following portfolios:

    • Liver/Inflammation: in-line products as well as pipeline assets in inflammation and for HBV cure.

    • Oncology: pipeline assets in the ARCUS collaboration

  • Partner with GV&A in conducting relevant pricing secondary and primary market research activities, and pre-launch pricing studies to evaluate pricing potential based on unmet need/value, stakeholder expectations, competitive pricing landscape and pricing benchmarks

  • Lead Global Pricing & Analytics activities & deliverables (in partnership with GV&A, and other key stakeholders) such as: analyzing pricing intel from available sources, developing Global Pricing Policies, driving Launch Sequence Optimization and Reference Pricing analytics, developing Contracting guidance, and supporting strategies for ensuring value-based price negotiations and/or indication and combination pricing

  • Support GV&A with the 10-year long-range planning and bi-annual 2-year forecast process by developing pricing templates and capturing data to provide a roll up of the pricing assumptions in key countries – analyzing any list price changes, gross-to-net variances or pricing impacts that are inconsistent with pricing guidelines and commercial strategy

Operational Pricing

  • Responsible for monitoring and tracking price trends, country pricing needs and requests, and managing any relevant pricing requests, including guiding any reviews to be escalated for discussion with either the Global Pricing Committee or with Regional Commercial leads

  • Guide review of pricing proposals against Global Pricing Policies and Global Pricing Governance. Support GV&A therapeutic area leads and local affiliates in the preparation and review pricing business cases for timely and thorough decision-making

  • Support Executive Director of Global Pricing & Analytics to escalate prices to Global Price Committee decision-making as needed

  • Support local affiliates (particularly Core 10 markets) and GV&A with pricing operations i.e., price certifications, price evolution analysis, brand/indication-specific pricing implications, pricing policy and landscape changes, etc.

Pricing Analytics

  • Knowledgeable about pricing regulations, payer systems & archetypes in priority countries (and preferably across regions or the globe), including deep expertise in local pricing setting mechanisms

  • Track and assess implications from major changes to pricing regulations and mechanisms worldwide (i.e., pricing reform, change in pricing rules)

  • Develop pricing analytics unique to multi-indication Lifecycle Management, such as dynamic price access trade-off modelling, indication price optimization, combination regimen price management, manage entry agreements/IPM, landscape understanding, and tool development  

  • Develop price modeling that incorporate international referencing pricing impact on revenues to support strategic pricing considerations, retrospective case reviews, price/volume tradeoffs, country supply, and policy impacts to inform key business decisions.

  • Build and employ advanced analytical tools (i.e. competitive and analog price intel, pricing performance KPIs, IRP impact sizing, etc.) to assist affiliates with monitoring price strategy and gross-to-net impacts

  • Act as subject matter expert to provide price intel leveraging available 3rd party secondary data resources i.e., NAVLIN, MIDAS, DRG, SSR, Analysource, and internal finance data to create pricing analogues analysis, competitive pricing reports, and ad-hoc analysis for Business Development opportunities

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and Twelve Years’ Experience

OR

Masters' Degree and Ten Years’ Experience

OR

Ph.D. and Eight Years’ Experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years+ in market access, pricing, or related subject matter expertise (required)

  • In-Depth understanding of pricing, access, health economics and commercialization strategy (required)

  • Bachelor's Degree (required)

  • General understanding of value-based pricing story needs, gaps and requirements to suit mark payer requirements in relevant markets (required)

  • Ability to communicate financial impact of pricing initiatives on overall business objectives (required)

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in the following aspects (required):

    • Designing or implementing pricing strategies at country level

    • Financial planning, forecasting or demand planning

    • Pricing, financial or statistical analytics

  • Ability to synthetize, critically analyze, efficiently communicate large volume of information, identify risks and develop recommendations (required)

  • Analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills and strong Excel skills (required)

  • Ability to consistently provide clear and concise written and verbal communication; excellent presentation skills, excellent English communication skills both oral and written (required)

  • Demonstrated appropriate level of leadership experience. Requires high levels of competence, confidence, and credibility in engaging with senior leadership (required)

  • Demonstrated professional track record to Gilead Core Values: integrity, inclusion, teamwork, excellence, accountability (required)

  • Prior knowledge and experience in Liver Diseases, Oncology and/or orphan drugs (strongly preferred)

  • Master’s Degree in Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Health Economics, Econometrics, Mathematics, Health Policy, or any other related quantitative field (strongly preferred)

  • Knowledge of health care systems and pricing regulations in top key markets: US, EU5, Canada, Japan, China, and Australia (highly desirable)

  • Experience interacting with third party data tools like NAVLIN, MIDAS, and DRG (highly desirable)
