Director of Corporate and Financial Communications
A proactive, strategic thinker, with an excellent network of media contacts and experience handling crisis communications, as well as building reputation-enhancing communications campaigns.
With a keen interest in setting the agenda and influencing a wide range of audiences – especially investors and the financial media, but also policy-makers, regulators and consumers.
This is a role is for someone who wants to drive a drumbeat of activity and secure regular coverage as well as handling set-piece announcements as well as crisis and issues.
You will be an expert in dealing with financial and business journalists (perhaps as a former journalist yourself), as well as being able to explain complex financial details simply and confidently.
You must be brimming with ideas for eye-catching stories, calm under pressure, and able to manage reactive and proactive comms at the same time. You will manage an agency and oversee a press office and reactive media responses. Experience in targeting the policy-making community will also be an advantage.
You will have a well-established media contacts book and know what makes a story, as well as having worked with senior executives on media relations.
Role Requirements
Excellent media relations experience, handling day to day coverage, announcements and issues
A well-established network of business journalists
Business/financial journalism experience preferred, as well as in house and/or agency experience
Proven experience leading strategic communications activity and securing favourable business/financial coverage
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
Confident at drafting reactive media lines
Experience working with senior executives
Crisis communications experience
An interest in the telecoms sector
Great to have
Telco / tech experience and expertise
Experience in transactions
Direct political experience
Experience in a regulated industry
Experience in financial communications or investor relations
Media coaching and preparation skills
