Head of Corporate Brand [or Corporate Brand Director]

The arrival of new ExCom leadership and the COVID-19 pandemic, which both offer re-set opportunities for company and industry reputation, have opened up additional possibilities for Sanofi to further position the company as a leader in both the business of pharma and in how we engage with stakeholders and society.
In a newly created role, the Head of Corporate Brand [or Corporate Brand Director] will be responsible for supporting the development of Sanofi’s corporate brand and purpose, as well as leading the management and governance of both. The objective is to increase the impact of brand over time, while championing its role as a key driver of the wider organization’s business performance. This person will own the Sanofi brand strategy and its execution, ensuring it is brought to life both within the organization and with external stakeholders.
This position is based in Paris, France, or Cambridge, Massachusetts, US, and reports to the Head of Corporate and Executive Communications.
Key Responsibilities
Build the value of brand over time to support business performance
Brand development and management, working closely with the head of the team, stakeholders and teams globally to bring to life the company’s and position Sanofi as a leading global healthcare company bringing transformative medicines, vaccines and other products to patients
Ensure and facilitate execution of cohesive corporate brand strategy across Sanofi’s global business units, global functions, and country affiliates
Manage the development and adoption of the new brand platform, implementing the overarching brand and communications strategy by working closely with communications and business teams
Build, implement and maintain a comprehensive brand governance plan to future-proof the brand
Guide, support and improve the design development process internally and externally to raise the bar in creativity and deliver a consistent brand experience
Serve as primary global point of contact for global business units, global functions and country affiliates on all corporate brand-related matters, including integration of acquired companies.
Together with the Head of Corporate and Executive Communications, establish and lead Sanofi Corporate Brand Council
Oversee the development of a new library of brand assets, in line with Sanofi’s new Corporate Brand Strategy
Foster strong partnerships with global business units, franchise leaders, affiliates, legal, regulatory and other functions in executing and implementing the brand strategy, to ensure aligned objectives and sustainable implementation across the company
Develop and execute impactful corporate advertising initiatives, as appropriate, ensuring appropriate market analysis and benchmarking is conducted
Work closely with the corporate digital communications and corporate content teams to ensure alignment of content strategy, communications technology, editorial strategy and tactics with the corporate brand strategy
Define key metrics for assessing impact of brand campaigns and measuring brand equity and value over time
Manage annual budgets, ensuring strategic allocation of funds and monthly tracking to meet agreed spending targets
Manage long-range planning and all associated financial forecasting requirements
Manage eco-system of brand agency partners and other vendors to ensure execution and inspiration towards objectives
Lead, develop, and motivate a high performing team
Collaborate effectively with teams and leaders across Sanofi Corporate Affairs, to effectively tell the Sanofi brand story, building and protecting corporate reputation with key stakeholders, including government officials, payers, media and employees
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and 12+ years of product/brand management and leadership experience; corporate brand management or corporate reputation experience preferred
Understanding of the pharmaceutical, vaccines and healthcare industries
Strong communication skills and track record of high energy, effective and influential presentations, delivering complex messages to external and internal customers, including Senior Leadership
Strong track record of project and process management skills, along with the ability to work on multiple tasks, and to effectively prioritize
Strong interpersonal, oral and written skills and the ability to interact professionally representing Sanofi
Demonstrated ability to understand and anticipate customer needs (internal and/or external)
Demonstrated knowledge of the pharmaceutical/biotechnology regulatory environment and has proven track record of managing tactical design, messaging and execution
Well-versed in core marketing principles and able to conceptualize and articulate a vision for the brand that energizes all functional areas and stakeholders
Experience working at a top tier brand, brand agency, or advertising agency
Professional Skills:
Comfortable managing complex projects/programs across a global matrix organization
Proven team player with ability to navigate cross-functionally
Demonstrated analytical skills
Passionate and confident in team environment
Experience in leading direct line managed and extended/working teams
