About the role:

Reporting to the Head of Corporate Strategy & Development, the Director of Insights & Analytics is a critical position in the Corporate Strategy group. She/he will define, build, and lead a team of 3-5 individuals that will provide Corporate Strategy, and Generate Biomedicines more broadly, with robust internal capabilities in Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, and Forecasting / Decision Analytics.

The successful candidate must be comfortable with ambiguity and able to clearly articulate strategic insights & recommendations to senior leadership. She/he is both a proven manager and capable individual contributor, with the ability to rapidly establish credibility across an organization and operate as a respected thought partner. She/he must thrive in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to appropriately balance multiple priorities and deliver superior work against tight timelines. Given the high visibility to Executive Leadership, this role presents excellent career advancement opportunities.

The position is Boston based.

Key responsibilities:

  • Define, recruit, and lead Insights & Analytics team to provide internal Market Research, Competitive Intelligence, and Forecasting / Decision Analytics capabilities
  • Design and build organizational processes / structures to support continued evolution of Generate Biomedicines in accordance with Operating Model and Governance structure
  • Plan and execute high-priority, high-impact Corporate Strategy projects independently, leveraging both the Insights & Analytics team and cross-functional connections across the Generate Biomedicines organization
  • Partner with the larger Corporate Strategy & Development team to establish and maintain the long-range business plan; translate corporate vision and strategy into a long-term, executable roadmap with identified resources, timelines, and value drivers
  • Oversee demand & revenue forecast process, and collaborate with Finance team to efficiently integrate forecast with Finance activities (i.e., Budget & LRP) and assessments (e.g., Corporate Valuation, P&L generation, etc.)
  • Contribute to the development & execution of BD Strategy initiatives to maximize platform value and patient impact by providing robust understanding of competitive landscape & market projections
  • Partner with other cross-functional teams (e.g., PDD, PS, Computation, etc.) on high-impact strategic projects that require MR, CI, and / or Forecasting & Analytics contributions
  • Manage external vendors who support respective projects / functions, and work closely with IT to acquire & manage data assets / infrastructure required for data-driven strategic analysis
  • Create purposeful workplace for team members, connecting their individual contributions to the Generate Biomedicines mission / vision / values

About you

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A. or B.S. degree (or equivalent) in life sciences or another relevant field
  • 5+ years of professional experience, including people management OR 4+ years of management consulting experience in a managerial role required, ideally at a top-tier firm
  • Proven track record of building and developing strategy / business plans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in a quantitative / scientific field (MBA, Master’s, or PhD) preferred
  • Experience in healthcare or life sciences consulting

Skills:

  • Proven manager with the ability to lead and develop a global team of 3-5 high performers
  • Results-driven, high-performer with highly collaborative style; able to influence and build consensus across all levels of the organization
  • Strong project management and facilitation skills, including experience with managing cross-functional matrix teams
  • Highly self-motivated with demonstrated ability to multitask, manage time, handle uncertainty, and work under pressure with limited oversight
  • Deep understanding of the pharmaceutical / healthcare landscape, and demonstrated experience in gathering, interpreting, and analyzing qualitative & quantitative data to address complex business questions in the biotech industry
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including ability to build clear, concise, visually appealing PowerPoint presentations that effectively communicate strategic findings & recommendations to an executive audience
  • Proven experience with forecast modeling platforms and tools; Excel proficiency is required, and experience with VBA & programming languages such as SQL, R, or Python is a plus
  • Domain knowledge in performance / real word data (e.g. IQVIA, Optum, Truven), and / or other related data sources such as providers and health systems is preferred
  • Experience with data visualization and analysis software (e.g., Tableau, Alteryx) preferred
