Job Description

Do you have a proven track record of delivering high quality press and digital communications?

Are you politically aware, with exceptional news judgement, and an eye for digital content?

This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role at the heart of a world leading organisation, ensuring our work to protect consumers and businesses is well understood and its impact is maximised.

About the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA)

We help people, businesses, and the UK economy by promoting competitive markets and tackling unfair behaviour. Our work is wide ranging, ambitious and often new and challenging.

What you will do

As Director of Press and Digital, you will lead the CMA’s high profile and high-quality media relations and digital communications function.

Working across a busy and varied brief, you will be at the forefront of ensuring our work is clearly communicated, to the right audiences, in an effective and strategic manner.

Your responsibilities will include overseeing CMA content for the Gov.UK website and social media, ensuring we can target business and consumer audiences with engaging content that matters to them.

You will also provide leadership to the Media Relations and Digital Communications teams, ensuring they have the required support and strategic direction to succeed, and the press and digital strategy aligns with the CMA’s overarching strategic priorities and reputation management strategy.

What you will need

Significant senior level expertise of leading media relations in a high-profile organisation is essential, as is significant experience of developing integrated communications strategies.

Naturally, you will have outstanding oral and written communication skills, in addition to the authority to influence and engage successfully with senior leadership colleagues.

Extensive experience of leading busy and high performing teams is equally important.

What we can offer you

In return the CMA is a hugely diverse, rewarding and stimulating place to work – an opportunity to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. We offer generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme, our employee assistance programme and flexible working options.

The CMA are an accredited Disability Confident Employer, and we are an equal opportunities employer, welcoming suitably qualified applicants from all backgrounds.

We recruit by merit on the basis of fair and open competition, as outlined in the Civil Service Commission's recruitment principles.
