Job Description





Reporting to the Chief Finance and Performance Officer, theDirector of Quality works across the organisation to lead the quality and regulatory agenda, with the goals of developing and delivering Genomics England’s Quality Strategy, building a quality mindset across the business, and continuously improving our ways of working.



Key Accountabilities



Owning and implementing the quality strategy for Genomics England’s whilst leading on continuous improvement on quality & process across the business.



Providing senior leadership that inspires collaboration, standardisation and resource sharing wherever appropriate and the development of an organisation-wide approach to risk management, in partnership with others across Genomics England.



Partnering and working with Genomics England leadership to:




  • link healthcare regulatory activity seamlessly into the wider work of the organisation

  • define quality approach across Genomics England’s research activities

  • iterate organisational governance procedures in line with wider initiatives across GEL

  • define the elements of the Genomics England Standards related to quality

  • embed the quality strategy into their day-to-day work.



Chairing the Quality Committee, ensuring the right governance is in place to support the quality agenda. Harnessing the efforts of this group to lead and deliver the quality agenda in Genomics England.



Leading and developing the Quality Improvement and Regulatory Affairs team and ensuring quality resources are deployed effectively across Genomics England. Managing and leading an inclusive, high performing team is crucial to ensuring that we have the right skills in place to deliver our mission.



Manage and ensure good governance and compliance with all relevant requirements including budgets, workforce plan, and all data and IT requirements.



Experience



Leadership experience in a strategic role where you have had influence and worked with senior people in a business and its external eco system (in Genomics England’s world - the NHS).



Noting this is a strategic as opposed to an operational role, you will have experience of connecting the links between technical operations and delivering the goals of an organisation.



Experience of working in a regulated environment is vital, you must have some understanding of ISO standards and MHRA regulations.



You must have a breadth and depth of experience in continuous improvement/change environments where you have led on complex change projects (for example, rolled out a quality approach to a new part of a business, completely overhauled a company's processes etc).







Qualifications





A relevant degree is welcomed although not strictly necessary.

Genomics England operates a blended working modelas we know our people appreciate the flexibility.We expect most people to come into the office 2 times each month as a minimum.However, this will vary according to role and will be agreed with your team leader.For some people this is 1 day a quarter, for others it isseveral days a week.There is no expectation that staff will return to the office full time unless they want to. The exception would be some of our roles that would require you to be on site full time e.g., lab teams, reception team.



Our teams and squads have, and will continue to, reflect on what works best for them to work together successfully and have the freedom to design working patterns to suit, beyond the minimum.Our office locations are Canary Wharf, Cambridge and Leeds.
