Job Description

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an ambitious Solicitor to join our Crime Department, covering either our Nuneaton, Coventry or Leamington duty rota. Our ideal candidate will be 3 years PQE but would like to hear from newly qualified Solicitors as well.

We welcome applications from candidates looking for either full or part-time opportunities.

The successful candidate will manage their own Criminal Matters caseload and assist the Head of Department in complex matters. You will need excellent case and time management, communication and organisational skills, proficiency in IT, and have a polite and patient manner.

  • Undertake fee earning work for clients in the field of Criminal Law to deal with all aspects of criminal work and represent clients both in court and at the police station
  • To work in accordance with the Office Manual
  • To promote the firm in all areas, always, including those in which they are not directly involved on a day-to-day basis
  • To always act in an appropriate way as a member of the legal profession and to comply with all professional requirements as set by the Law Society from time to time
  • Ability to manage a full working case load with sound knowledge of Criminal Law
  • Flexibility to travel and work from any of our offices and attend Courts and police stations at different locations
  • Ability to undertake that work in accordance with the requirements of the Office Manual
  • Able to motivate and supervise others
  • Experience as a criminal practitioner for an appropriate period
  • Ability to promote the increase of the work inflow for themselves and others through their own work, reputation, and personal contacts
  • Ability to work within the discipline of office targets, budgets, and billing requirements
  • Able to undertake appropriate continuous education and training
  • Knowledge of the professional requirements set by the Law Society running a private practice
  • Higher Rights of Audience would be desirable
