EDITORIAL ASSISTANT

FOR BOOTS HEALTH & BEAUTY MAGAZINE (THE PHARM, A VML AGENCY TEAM)

Hybrid - 1 day per week in Southbank Office

ROLE

As editorial assistant, you will support the associate editor and picture editor (as well as the wider Health & Beauty team) to ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the magazine, across a variety of administrative and editorial activities. This is a hands-on role for someone happy get stuck in to all tasks, big and small. The right candidate will also take on elements of writing. This is an excellent opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic junior, with plenty of exposure to different disciplines and the chance to develop new and existing skills.



KEY RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Manage beauty and makeup products and samples for shoots, including PR call-ins and store collections, with guidance from the associate editor and art editor.
  • Oversee the products and props cupboards, keeping these organised.
  • Manage contributor POs, invoices and commissioning forms.
  • Support the picture editor with financial admin, courier and taxi bookings.
  • Assist the picture editor on shoots where necessary, with logistical and ad hoc tasks.
  • Manage magazine mail-outs and PDFs for contributors.
  • Liaise with PRs about enquiries, products, new launches, and interview opportunities, actively building on these contacts.
  • Help with contributor readbacks and approvals each issue.
  • Participate in creative brainstorms at the beginning of each issue, contributing topical, audience-relevant ideas across beauty, health and wellness.
  • Ad hoc research or writing for the associate editor, when required.
  • Stay abreast of current lifestyle, health and beauty trends.
  • Understand the brand values, tone of voice, and magazine audience.
  • Support the team with other ad hoc tasks as required.

  • Actively interested in the world of beauty, health and wellness, following activity in these areas.
  • Ability to multitask, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • You have good attention to detail.
  • Collaborative and flexible, with a can-do approach.
  • Looking to be part of a friendly team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Talented at writing and researching, with an interest in developing these skills further.
