Education Welfare Officer

Liverpool

£32,000 - 35,000 Salary


MLK Search are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced educational Educational Welfare Officer.


The Opportunity:

Education Welfare Officer Responsibilities:

Monitoring and Consultation:

  • Implement a program for regular monitoring of school attendance.
  • Consult, advise, and support the Headteacher and other staff on attendance and absence matters.
  • Consider various actions and alternatives, recommending implementation based on relevant legislation and DfE guideline.
  • Promoting Individual Attendance:
  • Develop in-school programs to enhance the attendance of individual pupils.
  • These programs may include gradual reintegration through part-time timetables, in-school meetings with Progress Leaders, and facilitating support groups for problematic attendees.
  • Referrals and Home Visits:
  • Refer students to external agencies for attendance-related support.
  • Conduct home visits to address attendance and welfare concerns.
  • Formulate strategies during these visits, tailored to each family’s circumstances.
  • Regulations and Statistics:
  • Advise and support schools in implementing School Attendance Regulations.
  • Utilize attendance statistics for effective monitoring and management of school attendance.
  • Knowledge of Legislation:
  • Maintain a working knowledge of relevant Education and Child Care Legislation.
  • Provide guidance to the Headteacher, Academy staff, and parents/carers regarding the implications and practical application of such legislation
