We have a current requirement for an Electrical CAD Technician to join our design function based in Glasgow on a permanent hybrid working basis. The overall purpose of the role is to provide CAD Design and Technical support within WGM for existing and future delivery of Electrical projects.Main duties and responsibilitiesProvide technical input and checking of drawings and documentsPrepare effective design outputs and contribute technical guidance to projects as requiredSupport both team and personal Continuous Professional Development by demonstrating an awareness and understanding of advances or emergent technologies within your disciplineIntroduce any improvements that will maximise efficiencies or enhance existing procedures to ensure high quality outputs are maintainedTo submit all design work to relevant British Standards and client specifications. This includes adherence to all applicable guidance and regulations such as WiMES, CDM 2015, DSEAR Regs and Confined Space Regs as applicableCorrectly use the WGM timesheet system to capture and maintain accurate records of time spent on each projectCompetent with the functions of 2D/3D CAD systems, used to design and visualise project deliverablesAttend and contribute effectively to client meetings and workshopsMaintain an understanding of project hours, programme and costs to ensure project deliverables are achieved as efficiently as possibleProvide support to the other CAD DesignersWork in conjunction with and under the direction of engineersThe role will predominately involve Electrical and Instrumentation drafting work using AutoCAD and AutoCAD ElectricalProduction of Single line diagrams, cable block diagrams, loop and termination diagrams, GA drawings, cable routing, P&ID’s, panel layouts planning drawings, existing and proposed site layouts.To be considered for this position you will have at least 2-3 years previous within CAD or design function, previous experience ideally within an engineering or construction environment would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of CAD and commercial awareness of your specialist area of engineering.
