Job Description

We are an ally for the grid, the people and the planet. Our battery energy storage makes energy more affordable, cleaner and accessible for everyone so that every factory, business and home to reduce their energy bills by up to 50% while providing flexibility to the grid to lower costs and accelerate decarbonisation.

Our first system, the Allye Max, is an innovative 320kWh mobile energy storage system using repurposed electric vehicle batteries. It is up to, two-times cheaper and has 60% lower embedded CO2 than other similar systems. Our teams are developing the hardware and software solutions to transform how our energy is managed at the grid-edge.

Following successful testing, pilots with major companies and further engineering development, the Max is now ready for series production engineering. Due to our rapid growth, the team at Allye is expanding in multiple areas, increasing the depth and strength of our team of energy hustlers.

Job Description

As an energy storage installation specialist, you will support in the installation of our battery energy storage systems. You will take ownership of the installation process and ensure that the unit and its associated installations meet the relevant electrical regulations in the UK and Europe. Working within our team you will engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide solutions that support the company’s vision towards cleaner energy that is affordable to all, you will have contacts and relationships with DNO’s and, ideally with regulatory bodies to help shape the requirements for regulatory approvals in an area that is currently lacking within the industry, we want you to be passionate about the detail and have a desire to play a part in setting the bar high for standards. You will be providing feedback to the build team to help improve the ease of installation including, organising and managing the installation process which will provide a key role within the company. This role will require you to travel throughout the UK and occasionally within Europe for short periods. You will have a Safety-First approach to all work and be comfortable challenging things that are not as they should be. You will be required to always represent the company to the highest standards.

Qualifications

Education Requirements/Person Specification:

Educational Requirements & Relating Experience:

  • Must have experience in battery energy storage for both off-grid and on-grid applications -Domestic, commercial and/orgrid scale
  • You must have strong relationships with the DNO network
  • Knowledge of industrial and commercial electrical systems is vital
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with the G99 application process and able to demonstrate successful application examples
  • In-depth and strong knowledge and understanding of the electrical regulations and electrical testing/certification
  • Experience in producing quotations for electrical installation work
  • You must be computer literate and have an understanding of software and hardware integration
  • Ability to produce and work from wiring diagrams
  • Knowledge of control systems for both AC and DC systems
  • Hold a basic knowledge of mechanical systems and assembly
  • Experience in automotive engineering, especially EV’s
  • Strong knowledge of the DNO engineering requirements for new connections to the networks
  • Experience in the use of CAD software packages or other electrical design software
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Degree in electrical power engineering
  • Qualifications in EV charging or solar installations
  • Understanding of ITnetworking

Minimum Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 2382-18 requirements for electrical installations
  • City & Guilds 2391 inspection, testing & certification of electrical installations
  • NVQ level 3 in electrical installations
  • BPEC award in Electrical Energy Storage Systems or equivalent
  • ECS Gold Card
