Reporting directly to the Buildings leadership and embedded within the structural engineering team, we were established 12 months ago to provide a single point, dedicated civil engineering resource to support our Buildings led commissions. Embracing hybrid working, our geographical footprint is UK wide. Main Role Responsibilities

Your key tasks and responsibilities will be:

  • Interpret client’s requirements and contribute to the design of building related civil engineering in order to produce efficient and cost effective designs as part of an overall civil’s deliverable package involving below ground drainage design, vehicle tracking, pavement design and earthworks analysis.
  • Development and review of feasibility studies, technical reports, detailed designs and production of contract documents
  • Development of innovative drainage strategies that contribute to a well balanced holistic solution for our clients, promoting sustainability and re-defining best practice.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals and specialist designers in order to integrate the civil engineering deliverables into an overall coordinated BIM model.
  • Liaise and communicate with both internal and external design teams and clients and represent the discipline at project meetings as the need arises.
  • Negotiate with Statutory Authorities such as Lead Local Flood Authorities, Environment Agency, Highways departments etc as the need arises.
  • Ensure standards are kept by seeking best practice throughout the firm using and contributing to technical forums. In doing this you will know when to challenge accepted practice in order to advance the discipline through a solid understanding of core principles.

  • Bachelors/Master’s degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Working towards or will be a newly Chartered or Incorporated Engineer with the Institution of Civil Engineers, having a proven and demonstrable track record in your discipline
  • Proficient in working within a team environment on buildings related civil engineering tasks
  • Be prepared to challenge in order to develop a high degree of technical competence with demonstrable appreciation of sustainable design
  • AutoCAD proficient (preferably Civils 3D) and expertise in confidently using MicroDrainage and or Causeway Flow hydraulic design tools in a BIM environment.
  • A confident and professional manner, coupled with excellent communication skills, with clients and colleagues alike, to ensure clarity in all situations and to effectively influence
  • Have an enthusiastic, enquiring mind, with a good sense of humour and able to work both singularly and in a team.
