About the job

The Engineering Consultant will work within the Engineering team of First Rail Consultancy – a part for First Rail Holdings. This role reports to the Managing Consultant, Engineering.
The individual will be responsible for developing, communicating and implementing programmes of work that will deliver current and future goals of the client, in line with the strategies and principles of the consultancy. They will be responsible for working with clients like other FG ToC and operational companies and help deliver engineering workstreams as agreed with clients.

Your main responsibilities will be:

  • Continuously seek to develop your expertise and experience to meet the changing needs of First Rail Consultancy
  • Participate in delivery of projects and workstreams from clients such as FG ToC and Operating Companies
  • Liaise with external stakeholders on behalf of Clients
  • Support rolling stock procurement and implementation programmes
  • Support Principle Consultants on specialist and specific workstreams
  • Challenge and support your colleagues to achieve the highest standards

As a minimum, you will need to have:

  • Proven record in Analytical Thinking, concept development and relationship development.
  • Ability to communicate with impact and engage effectively with both technology and business stakeholders both inside and outside of FirstGroup
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter who is results-driven with high levels of self-motivation, mobility, energy and initiative
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and with other people
  • Actively explore opportunities and develop them into projects, where appropriate, to meet the team's revenue target
  • Rail Engineering across the whole life cycle, with a focus on Rolling Stock;
  • Asset Management and Systems;
  • Supplier relationship management experience
  • Knowledge of working in a multi-site environment
