Engineering Manager needed to join our team on a contract basis, here at VML Enterprise Solutions.
The opportunity:
We are looking for a highly experienced Engineering Manager to deploy into one of our key accounts in the retail sector. They have a well-established, mature and progressive engineering department that needs continued strong leadership.
What you’ll be doing:
- Leading a multi-skilled engineering team to deliver innovative and high-performing solutions.
- Collaborating closely with product owners and the business to drive progress and influence outcomes.
- Owning the entire technology stack, including service management, and overseeing both change and run activities.
- Recruiting and retaining a talented team, mentoring and coaching colleagues, shaping a world-class engineering function.
- Defining the technical direction and vision, fostering communities of practice, advocating and embedding agile/lean delivery methodologies.
- Managing initiative budgets, overseeing service support and SLAs.
- Handling people and product financial data, meeting targets, providing accurate reporting, and seeking value realisation opportunities.
- Continuously striving for improvement, leading by example, inspiring your team, and delivering impactful solutions.
What we want from you:
- A proven track record of successful collaboration with product owners.
- Experience and passion in leadership with a deep understanding of the critical role that product data plays in the success of a retailer.
- The ability to drive the delivery of innovative solutions that create value, increase efficiency, and enhance performance.
- Understanding of how to recruit, retain, and motivate teams, with excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.
- Knowledge of cutting-edge processes and technologies, always looking to enhance our engineering practices.
- Hands-on experience in languages, tools, and infrastructure, leading by example and ensuring successful delivery of large-scale platforms.
- Attention to detail, strategic mindset, and financial acumen to manage budgets and optimise value realisation.
